What would you do- rent ressie or rent points??

I have reservations at VWL for a poplular week.

Would you cancel the reservation and try to sell the points (which might be a problem b/c I used banked 2007 points) or wait until the 30 day window and try to sell the reservations?? And, the notion has crossed my mind that if we didn't sell it- we HAVE to use it, right? I mean that would be a complete waste !

I would cancel and then try to use the points for a different vacation for myself.

If its a popular week you may be able to rent the reservation as is. But if you don't and then cancel the points will go into holding..........since you are dealing with banked points you would lose them at UY end just like points in holding. The difference though is that holding points can only be used for reservations up to 60 days out. For me it would be a toss up.....

I would try to rent it. Also, there are places other than DIS where rentals can be listed for free (or a very very small fee) without the 30 day notice limit. I rented out a non-DVC easter week on another site just a few weeks ago.

I priced it aggressively and it went in less than a week. I probably could have gotten more for it, but I wanted to make sure I had it rented before year-end.

Who knew?? I will try that for a week and see if we have a taker, if not I'll put them up on the dis rental board!! Thank you!!
