Hello,

I need some help in making up my mind about a resort stay in September. We are a party of 3 (DH, DD2, and myself).

CSR standard room, 10 nights, $1,752.58.
ASMo preferred room, 9 nights, $1,206.75

I think CSR is the better value, but regardless of value, which do you think would be the better experience for our family? For reference, when we stay at hotels, we book 3.5* or above. We are a little concerned about the quality of the rooms and the sizes of the beds at ASMo. However, one of the reasons we booked it is the appeal for my two year old.

Also, these were booked with the current summer deal. Do you think prices are likely to be lower when the AP discounts are released?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I would say ASMo just to avoid the large construction project going on at CSR.

Your two year old will enjoy whichever resort you choose. My DS9 has stayed at different levels of resorts all over WDW and he loved them all. Pick the one you and your DH will be most comfortable in.

CSR if you can consider preferred category to get in Casitas section. It's on the opposite side from construction and is the first bus stop. If standard, definitely request something on that side of the lake.

A standard room at CSR will likely have lots of walking. That may not be easy with a two year old.

But you have only 9 nights at ASMo. Hm. Why 9 nights? I always like to stay as long as possible.

Also, why not a different mod without construction? I have found that sometimes there is AP availability where there is no general public discount availability, and vice versa.

I loved staying value with my daughter because she and I were just happy to be at WDW. We loved Pop and AS Sports. However, I would probably never stay value with my husband (hotel snob), and my mom was not impressed with All Star Sports. She breathed a big sigh of relief when we moved over to AKL for the bulk of our stay. There is definitely a difference in value resorts and moderate resorts. I say this because you can consider your husband and in what type of resort he would be happier. Which does he value more? Comfort (go with a mod), value for dollar (probably the mod, too), or frugality (go with the value)?

AP discounts will be slightly better than that, but not hugely so (AP discount is usually about $5-10 a night less in values and I think we paid $14 a night less than the regular discount at AKL).

If you are concerned about the size of the beds and quality of the room, I would choose CSR over an All star. CSR does have the construction going on, but the rooms are a lot nicer. Can you pick another mod like Port Orleans French Quarter or Riverside? Both of those are great resorts.

I agree with what the others are saying..... can you pick another mod?
Port Orleans either side is great for families and no construction. We like CSR but if you want to avoid construction I'd look elsewhere.
Sorry, can't help much with AP discounts but I know others on this board will be able to. Whatever you choose, have a great time!!

Thanks for all of the input!
I was able to increase the number of nights for ASMo to 10 nights for a grand total of $1,333.87 (including taxes, fees). So it's about a $400.00 difference from CSR.
The reasons I'm leaning towards ASMo are as follows:

1) Price. We just got back from Disney three days ago and I think we are trying to not let cost get too high. I understand $400 over 10 nights is not that much of a difference per night, but with $400, all three of us could do MNSSHP, dinner at Cinderella's castle, and Minnie's Seasonal Dine with Fantasmic (DD2 is still free for these!)

2) Construction. I know that right now it's not super intrusive but we are a little concerned about the 15 floor tower that may be going up during our stay

3) Disney-ness of the resort. The magic is very, very real for DD2 and I just can't help but think she would adore the giant statues of Pongo and Woody.

I think we'll stick with ASMo and try to find standard rooms (as I'd rather stay in the Mighty Ducks building for its proximity to ASMu and because I hear it's more quiet and less foot traffic). If we hate it, next time we'll go to the mods.

Thanks again!

WIth a little one I would choose POFQ. It is a compact resort with a sweet pool and splash pad for children. I owuld avoid CSR until the construction is done. You are concerned already becuase of the level of hotel you are used to, so I would not add more stress.
