My sister and I are headed to Disneyland for the very first time in September. We have planned a beautiful vacation which is 7 Full Nights and our flight don't go home until 11:30pm on the last day. We will be going to Disneyland/California Adventure Park 3 times with our 3 day hopper, Universal, Sea World, San Diego Zoo and Legoland. We did get the Southern CAlifornia City pass and then added legoland on.

So here is my question. ARe we making a mistake by having all that travel time to San Diego. We do not have a car with us we will be depending on the bus service. WE got the 4 day transfer package Disney offers.

Since our package is booked through Walt Disney Travel Company should we ask them for information on adding of the San Diego Package they offer for some of our stay or do we jsut stay in Anaheim and take the bus everyday? How much time are we looking at to get to those attractions? And if we would stay in San Diego what is the area like? I was thinking that with Anaheim when the parks were closed there were lots of restaurants and shopping we could do to have some nice evenings which are in walking distance. Is the same possible in San Diego?

Any help or advice is appreciated. THis is our first time so we need help :-)

San Diego is a great town. You won't regret the time you spend there. There aren't resturants around the attractions like you will find in Anaheim because Sea World and Legoland are more spread out. It might eb worth it to rent a car for the time you will be in San Diego. You might need it to get to the attraction from you hotel and will definitely need it too see the rest of San Diego.

My kids love Sea World. Legoland is fun but small (and expensive, even for a themepark). Have fun and good luck.

Hi,
We are doing the same thing in Sept., but for 6 nights. We are staying the first four in anaheim and then the last 2 in San Diego. (we booked through walt disney travel too!). We rented a vehicle and we are flying out of San Diego(which is cheaper too!!). I think it will be worth not having to drive back and forth. Hope this helps!

P.S. We are staying downtown embassy suites, which is supposed to be near lots of shopping and resturants.

I would definately stay in San Diego for the days you have stuff to do down there. It is a good 1-1 1/2 hr drive depending on traffic from what I remember. We stayed one night when we did Legoland and then Sea World the next day. It was definately worth it. They have lots to do down there too.

When we did the CCP we stayed the night in SD .I think it was just easier then driving or busing back and forth.

You might even want to get a car for those couple of days.

Have fun either way we had a great Time last June.

I would rent the car. You could use priceline.com or look at www.mousesavers.com for some codes. The weekly rental of a car would be alot cheaper than transportation from the airport to DL, then to another city and back to the airport.
