What would you do if you had an extra TS credit?

My group doesn't want to eat a TS meal the day we arrive or the day we depart... so for the first time, I'm with a group that has an "extra" TS credit floating around. Plan A is to double-up one of our days and have a TS breakfast and a TS dinner. The problem with this plan is that it might feel a big restrictive, with us having to plan the day around two ressies. Plan B is to do one of the dinner shows - something I've never done before.

So what do you think of the dinner shows? Are they worth the time & using two TS credits? Is there one in particular that's a favorite? (we have a group of 10, the two kids will be almost 4 and 14; rest are adults)

For a crowd like that, I would go for Hoop De Doo Review. AYCE Fried Chicken and Ribs and a really fun show. One caveat is that with the DDP you must get category 2 or 3 seats for the 5 and 7:15 shows, or wait till 9:30PM for category 1. Its a small venue, so the lesser category seats are usually fine. The other thing is with a group that size, you want to BOOK NOW!

Hoop de Doo is a whole lot of fun. I would say it is worth the use of 2 credits.

Lots of people post about how much their family loves this show. I have looked at some Youtube videos, but it just doesn't look that great to me. Is there something about being there that a youtube video just can't capture?

I voted for a 2TS/signature restaurant. Its a nice treat to go to a fancy place like Citrico's or Cali Grill. You can see fireworks at both places!

My daughter's response when I asked her to watch one of the videos was "This is not entertaining me." I didn't want her to miss out on a great show even though it doesn't look like my cup of tea, but maybe the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree between she and I.

Or maybe there is an ambiance and a feeling at the show that you just can't appreciate on a video having never been. -- You know, like that feeling you get when you see the first WDW sign, or drive under the WDW gate or see Cinderella's castle as you approach Magic Kingdom?

I went to Hoop Dee Doo for the first time (that I can remember) in 2009. The food was fine. I don't eat ribs, but if I remember correctly, I really liked the fried chicken. I honestly didn't pay a ton of attention to the show. I was in Cat 2 seating, which was fine, but my back was to the entertainment a lot of the time. DH didn't care for it either (DS was 1 1/2). We had a 6yo and 7yo at our table and they loved it! I think most of the other adults did too. I see it gets mostly great reviews, it just wasn't for me. I do think that probably YouTube can't capture what it's like to be in that interactive environment.

I also voted for HDDR. On the basic DDP, it is the only meal I can justify using 2 TS credits for. The show is fun and the food is pretty good. It's been a family favorite since I was a kid (my fiancee now also insists on going to the HDDR on every trip).

My issue with using 2TS credits (on the basic DDP) on a Signature is that you use 2TS credits (valued at about $70 or so) and still only get half a meal. More often than not, when we dine at a Signature, my fiancee and I each order an appitizer, entree and we split a dessert. We also usually order a bottle of wine or a couple of cocktails. Our bill usually falls between $120 and $160 including tip. Using 2 TS credits means we would still have to pay for apps and wine/cocktails OOP, plus pushes both of us to get our own desserts. After tip we are looking at an additional $50-$60 on top of the $140 already spent on the dining credits.

Ever seen the old TV show Hee-Haw? Been to Branson MO? Similar types of humor. Country theming, family-friendly.

One other thing prior posters have not mentioned is that the meal also includes adult beverages with your TS credits. Since your group is mostly adults, that might have a greater appeal for some of your party. I think with a large group it's a good way to relax and enjoy an evening.

Another vote for the HDDR. We love it, I have gone with all ages from 4 to 65, and everyone loved it.

I will go against the grain and vote against HDDR. I thought the show was just alright. And the food well below other TS restaurants. Not to mention travel time and the required time to arrive prior to the show. There are so many free shows at the Parks that are better IMO.

Why not do a Tusker House character lunch if you have kids? It's a buffet and you can plan it around a day that you'll be at AKL.

I would add another table service at Epcot. I'd do an early lunch & a late supper. There are so many excellant restaurants there to eat at. If that didn't work with schedules ...I'd pick up breakfast before the parks open...either Tusker House or Crystal Palace.

I've not gone to any of the dinner shows so I'll put that as my second choice of what to do with the extra credit.
