I've flown in & out of SNA & LAX and honestly noticed no difference, aside from SNA being slightly closer. I would say it depends on what time your flight is coming in, If your going to be driving to the airport at noon on a Sunday I wouldn't worry about traffic. Coming in Friday at 5pm? May be worth the extra $$.

I would say just about any weekday morning and early evening would have fairly annoying traffic.
