What would you do about this ebay situation?

This is a minor issue, but it does irk me.

I have an item up for bid on ebay (a baseball card). It's a super cheap item, I started it at 99 cents. It's a 3 day auction, ending in a few hours from now. Well, I just checked it out, and some guy bid less than $2, and he cancelled his bid "because he could not contact the seller". Well, I have no record of any contact. I'm sure he didn't want to bid on the item and ebay doesn't give you many ways to retract your bid. But it bothers me. I don't want someone else to see that and think that I don't care about bidders. Is there something I can do to get that removed?

I don't think you can get it removed. I wouldn't worry about it. Most people never check the bid history.

I had that happen last month. I blocked the bidder. It was on a cake pan and I sell groups of them every few months and this person has bid on others. I don't want to run into them again. They had ten retractions since they registered (not too long ago).

Well, I know i check the bidding history and my husband is a fanatic about it. But he is usually buying and selling products over $100.

You should be able to post a reply by going into your "my ebay" area. You could post something like "Sadly, I have no record of email from this bidder"

I would also send and email saying something like. "I am very sorry you had difficulty contacting me, I have no record of an email coming in from you" That way you have it on record (be sure to save a copy of the email)

I hate Ebay for that reason, I tried selling some items and while some were fine, others were really picky.

I sold some seashells and packaged them in lots of peanuts and bubble wrap the buyer posted I had great packaging. Then I sold a veil and wrapped it in pink tissue paper and the buyer commented the packaging could have been better, another bid at closing on a veil, won, and then backed out- in a nasty way- it was her first purchase on ebay, she didn't care that I left a negative comment, she will probably never use ebay again- I was so pissed, but nothing i could do about it. I sold like 12 items and that was the end of my selling days. SquareTrade is useless. Im afraid I have turned bitter over Ebay and people being a tad mean.
