What Would Merida Do on her coronation day?

If she's anything like we remember from the movies, she'd complain about being gussied up and get the heck outta Dodge! For those that actually want to see this happen (although most likely it won't but still...)

~Wow. You've got over 6000 supporters -- that's awesome! With that said, I have mixed feelings -- I'm a girly girl, commando & stealth geek so I believe a girl can be tough, smart & fabulous -- a triple threat! The new dress & tamed hair are fabulous, but the new face is *NOT*. :scared: And, the old dress -- OMG, no. :(

~Archery is hot right now -- so the new dress paired in contrast with the bow & arrow would be absolutely stunning.

~Formula for perfection: new dress + new hair + bow & arrow + old face = fabulous makeover. :lovestruc And yes, Merida should be at the coronation, she doesn't have to smile but she must look fabulous! pixiedust:

I think that one lesson Merida learns in Brave is responsibility to her people and respecting her mother. I would guarantee that her mom would encourage her to look like the princess she is. While she would not love it, she would bear it regally. :) and then go riding through the fields with the wind blowing through her hair!

The "princess she is" would be covered up more, as it was in the movie, as it would be for Merida's personality type. I just don't get the need to lose shoulder straps, more makeup, eyes more Asian-like (for all the characters) yet still huge and doe-eyed, glitter bomb. My favorite, Aurora, has completely lost her aesthetic that was so particular to her movie and genre artistry. Walt would not approve. ;)

I was not the one who started the petition, I was just boosting the signal as a fellow signatory. The website A Mighty Girl was the one that created it and where I saw it.

The new face REALLY bugs me too! It's been Kardashian'd (is that a word?). I'm hoping if nothing else the ceremony will have something of her independent spirit worked in it.

I'm not totally against being princess-y, me and my girls have done our fair share. We are now enjoying adding some incongruous elements, like my older daughter wanted to be a zombie princess but I had to tell her it had to wait until after Disney (we're hitting MNSSHP on 9/24).

~LOL. I've never heard of "kardashian'd." :rotfl: But, that's just awful (rawr) -- still, much better than the s word, so I'll manage. And, a zombie princess?!? Now, I've really heard it all! :goodvibes

~With that said, I really, really appreciate this link to "A Mighty Girl" -- OMG, I *LOVE* this!!! Thanks so much for sharing.

~I hope you all have a fun & fabulous trip! :goodvibes

Taylor Swift got to show off her blond locks as Rapunzel, and now Jessica Chastain gets to prove that redheads can have just as much fun.

Chastain is the latest star to pose for photographer Annie Leibovitz in her growing Disney Dream Portrait series as part of the Disney Parks advertising campaign. In addition to Swift, the campaign has featured Queen Latifah as Ursula from The Little Mermaid, Olivia Wilde as the Evil Queen and Alec Baldwin as the Magic Mirror from Snow White, and Jeff Bridges and Penelope Cruz as the Beast and Belle from Beauty and the Beast, to name a few.

Chastain appears with bow and arrow on a horse as Scottish princess Merida from the 2012 Oscar-winning animated film Brave. The two-time Oscar-nominee spoke to Entertainment Tonight at the photo shoot. ”I definitely see her as a modern princess. She’s headstrong, she’s funny, she has great passions,” Chastain said. ”She’s a good role model for little girls.”
