if I showed up an hour or so early for my ADR? Do you think it would be considered "bad taste"? I have a 5:30 ADR for Akershus, but I thought I might go to the podium when they open at 4:20 and see if they may have some cancellations and can maybe get us in early. We decided to do MNSSHP that night and I don't want to arrive too late.

Have you tried to reschedule it? But no, I don't think it's bad taste at all. You can always ask, ya know. The worst thing they can do is say no. :)

ITA. Especially since you have an ADR anyway, there's no harm in asking.

That shouldn't be a problem at all. We usually try to aim for 15-20 mins early for our ADRs and often get seated right away. I am sure if they have a table ready they will seat you. It's always smart to ask.

Hi!

We did something similar last year at Yak and Yeti. We had a 4:30 pm ressie and we were so hot and tired and just didn't want to wait that long! We went to the podium at ~ 3:30 pm and they took us no problem.

Doesn't hurt to ask!

They then asked us what our original time was for and crossed us off.

Good Luck!

It all depends on how busy they are. I tried it at Coral Reef last fall and was told they could only seat me at my original time.

We have done it in the past when the resturant is openning for dinner and most times they sit us right away.

sometimes we get in and sometimes we do not. We just did this for Chef Mickey's this week, got caught in rain and ended up getting there and hour early to get out of the rain. Went to check in and got seated right away.

At LeCellier we were seated 15 minutes after ADR time, even though we were there 15 minutes early, so it goes both ways.

Agreed - definitely don't think it's any sort of bad taste to arrive early. Worse case scenario is that they can't take you and you have to wait that extra hour; best case, they seat you right away!

I would not call it "bad taste" but I think you should plan on something to do for that hour if they can't seat you early. And when they seat you, they can remove your ADR and maybe have room for a walkup party later.

I would try it, its a hit or miss depending on how busy the place is, last Sept at San Angel we were told no and had to wait an hr past our ADR time!

Gosh, I was ready to get bashed...lol. I was almost afraid to look at the answers! You know, ADR's around here are serious business!!! Thanks guys. I have tried and tried to get an earlier ADR. My reservation is at 5:30 and I was hoping for something closer to 4. I've even tried to trade on the September trading thread, but no luck. will definately be waiting when they open to see if I might be able to get in early.

You don't think they'll charge my card as a no show do you?!!!

We do that alot, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt...we had a 6:45 ressie for Le Cellier this past March and we walked in at 5pm and were seated right away. We did that at Ohana too, same times, and were told we could not be seated early so we chilled at the Tambu Lounge instead and were seated 30 minutes past our ressie time!
