What would be a good, fast breakfast?

Usually, I'm in a SERIOUS rush to get out the door, drop Maddy off at school, and get to work (I have to be there at 7:30 a.m.). I usually get up at 6:20, get Maddy up at 6:30, and we're out the door by 7.

Fast food is not really an option, I'm trying to lose a little bit of weight. Making a smoothie takes too long, and is too loud (DH sleeps until about 9 for work). Bagels are too fattening, and I'm not supposed to really be eating at work...

Anyone have suggestions for something on the run, keeps you full until lunch (at 11:30), and isn't too bad for you?

I like the yogurt smoothies from Dannon (Light and Fit they are I think). If that's not enough to hold you over you can add a piece of fresh fruit and/or a low sugar breakfast bar.

instant oatmeal? it's definately filling and easy to make, put it in a styrofoam cup with a plastic spoon and take it with you.
also, i've been known to take a turkey and cheese lunchable with me in the car.

Im always in a rush also, I love a peanutbutter and butter sandwich with a cup of coffee

Great minds think alike! I was going to suggest a peanut butter sandwich, I would just skip the coffee! I will also do chicken or turkey too. I do better if I eat protein for breakfast. It seems to hold me longer than anything.

I need protein with breakfast to stay full until lunch. A bowl of oatmeal or a bagel does not do it for me. Two options that might work for you.

1) Peanut butter, cottage cheese, and fiber one cereal. You could premeasure the cottage cheese and fiber one the night before (but don't add the fiber one until right before you eat it) to save time.

2) WW Toast or WW Waffles and eggs eaten like a sandwich. Only takes a few minutes to scramble eggs (seconds in the micro!) and it should tide you over.

I love Kashi bars. They have a new one - dark chocolate/cherry. It tastes like a chocolate covered cherry but it's not icky sweet. Like all Kashi products it has a good amount of fiber.

Another option is a PB&J. Use whole grain bread and go easy of the peanut butter. The combination of fiber, protein and fat will keep you going until lunch.

There are several good yogurt smoothies available now. I like Dannon light & fit ones.

Yogurt for sure....have it every morning....always in a rush....I almost inhale it. I love all COLUMBO flavors.

If you have time (POP DADDY) then you can toast a slice of whole wheat bread and spread peanut butter (protein) on it.

Instant oatmeal is great and will keep you full until 11-ish.

Can you also throw a package of raisins in your purse and munch on those ALONG with having any of the above.

I also eat LOOSE cheerios or wheat chex (take them in a baggie).

Sliced apples and a slice of cheese on top of it. (apple = fruit, cheese = protein).

:wave2:

We have one of those microwave egg poachers and love it, two poached eggs in less than a minute. Toast a egg mcmuffin while they cook, slap on a slice of lunchmeat ham and you have an egg mcmuffin!

My boys also really like scrambled eggs in a hot dog bun to go. Easy to carry, soft bread with the eggs works great!

They also love those Quaker breakfast "cookies", I think just because it is a cookie! But they do taste pretty good.

Peanut butter toast is wonderful, sometimes with a sliced banana on top. Cinnamon raisin bagels with cream cheese. Two toaster waffles with peanut butter or jam between them to make a sandwich. Muffins, made the night before (you can make a double batch and put some in a sandwich bag in the freezer, then just pop them in the microwave when you want one). Instant oatmeal in those single serve containers are easy to take with you. For a special treat sometimes I will make a baked apple with cinnamon and brown sugar in the microwave.

I do cereal bars most days. My issue is that I am not hungry first thing in the am, but I am starving by 8:30 or 9. So I usually keep cereal bars in my desk (when working) or at home (when not working) to stave off hunger. Also, very easy to eat when driving!

As "weird" as this may sound...what about left overs? I am usually not in a "breakfast food" mood in the mornings but I have to eat so I'll just have leftovers from the day before.

Nothing like re-heated rice and beans in the morning.

Or you can just have a sandwich...grilled cheese or something.

Cheetos and Coke................well, two out of three ain't bad........... :thumbsup2

That IS what I used to eat in high school..........sigh.........I was such a good weight then.............

I agree with fruit and cheese, maybe keep some of those individual skim milks.............

I eat one of those little 4 oz containers of yogurt every morning.

There are some great high fiber/low fat muffins you can make or buy, then just grab on the way out the door. I also make big oatmeal cookies with applesauce instead of part of the oil. Add raisins, nuts, shredded apples or carrots. Great quick breakfast, one batch keeps all week.

This sounds very odd, but it works!

It calls for a little prep time the night before, but all you have to do the next morning is boil water! (and it's pretty fun to do! :thumbsup2 )

Ziploc Omelet

Each Omelet:
2 Large or Extra-Large Eggs
Ziploc Freezer Bags, Quart-size
Cheese, grated
Ham, diced
Onions, chopped
Mushrooms, sliced
Any other ingredients desirable in an omelet

Have each person write their name on a Quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.

Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.

Choose form a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.

Each person adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up. (Omelets can be made the night before and stored in the refrigerator until the next morning.)

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.

Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. (Be to be amazed.)

Can serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake. (Everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece.)

I would often do a Slim-Fast bar. Pull it out of the box, open it and eat it on the way. :)

These are the real granola bars...not the candy kind. They are yummy and very filling. Easily grab and go, to eat in the car.

But they are pretty dry, so you need a beverage. I prefer Diet Pepsi, but I'm having the Breakfast of Champions.

How about getting up 15 minutes earlier????

I usually have peanut butter toast or English muffin or a bowl of cereal for breakfast.
