18 year old me, who would not have the benefit of my years of life experience and would not know how I got to this point, would say:

- Why didn't you marry ___? He's so perfect.
- We're looking pretty good to be over 50.
- Wow, you've done well for us! We're financially secure and are going to retire early!

With the benefit of my years of life experience, I would tell 18 year old me:

- Don't follow ___ to his choice of university. You know you really wanted to go to ____.
- Better yet, consider a stint in the military before university. Sure, you're ready academically, but a couple years of maturity wouldn't hurt you -- and you could really use the financial help.
- You know what you should study in school. Don't let Mom dissuade you.
- Keep in touch with your college buddies.

Can you even imagine? I didn't know him then, but knew his older cousins and babysat some kids that were in his class! To our knowledge we never crossed paths prior to meeting when he had just turned 23 and I was 27, but it would really be weird to look back if we had.

I'm not even sure what I'd say at 18. I made plenty of mistakes, but I'm afraid I wouldn't have DH & DS, if I changed anything. I do wish I could go back to 24 & make changes. If it meant losing DH & DS, I'll take things the way they are.

18 year old me would have asked why I didn't find DH 10 years earlier (there was a short period we were both single, both online dating, in the same city, but we were using different sites).

I'd tell 18yo me to not settle for someone who doesn't make you feel loved/cherished/wanted every single day and to transfer into a better school.
