What will you celebrate at DL during 2009?

Why? Why isn't the FP needed as much at DLR?

Depends on when you go really. Some rides you always want to get a FP for but others you don't always need one.

Do any of you know what I should do for a leap year birthday? My DH b-day is 2/29, but he doesn't get a b-day day this year. We celebrated his 9th last year......:rotfl2: Anywhoo, I wonder if disney would let him get the ticket on the 28th or 3/1, his i.d. says 2/29..... We would love to go on his b-day weekend. Thanks.

I think he would be OK either day but maybe call Disney and ask. My oldest DD was due 2-29.....I was quite happy she was 2 weeks early. LOL

According to Disney's Guest Services, a leap year birthday is not a problem.

We've timed our trips to the point where I think we've used 3 FPs ever. Usually the FP lines are closed, or the CMs tell us to use the FP later when the standby line is longer.

Oh wait, I take that back...we did use Buzz FPs a couple times, but overall I've taken home FAR more FPs than I've ever used.

But I never hear of people bringing home scads of WDW FPs, and they aren't all giving them to other people either (I"ve tried to give mine to others and I just can't explain it well enough to get people to take them); it seems they are much more needed at WDW.

We love Disneyland and are looking forward to making up all sorts of things to celebrate the Disney way.princess:

That's funny. We look for any excuse to go also! We celebrate our birthdays, anniversaries, the dog's birthday, our neighbor's birthday, my parent's birthdays, their dog's birthday, the stranger's birthday on the next street over... you get the idea! We have APs and so we like to use them as much as possible. We had already planned a birthday trip at the beginning of February (for my daughter and myself - our birthdays are 1 week apart), and then I found out 2 months later when they announced the birthday celebration deal that we could get a gc (since we have APs), so we decided to add 2 more weekend trips in Feb, since both of our birthdays fall on Fridays! Like I said... any excuse to go!

That is rather funny, bumbershoot. Not always having your offer for fast pases accepted by other guests. What are they thinking? Maybe, oh what is this? a scam? Or do I need it? or want it? I say if one does not have a fast pass, and someone offers you a good one, just smile and say thank you.
That is really just too funny to me. he he!

ROFL you said dogs birthday twice, do you have 2 dogs? I do but they wouldn't appreciate a trip to DL. LOL :)

Molly, people put those FP's on eBay and sell them....seriously!!!! "what you are bidding on is a white envelope, included with your envelope at no charge will be 20 WDW FP's good for the following rides.........who needs to wait in line, just use these FP's and walk right up" Ya, seriously...

That is great! If we lived in the US I think we would be doing the same thing. :rotfl:

Timed your trips as in going in off seaon? Or on certain days of the week, etc? We'll be there in mid-August, the 18th, 19th and 20th. I'm guessing that is still high season and will require fast passes.

We normally get FP's just because that way we can go back later. We always do a lot of rides without FP's. Bumber has a small son so she doesn't do rides like Space Mtn, that one you basically need a FP for. That's one of the first ones we always get, then if DBF and I decide not to ride (we have more sensitive tummies) the girls can ride twice. :)

Yes, August will still be peak season so you will want to get FP's. I'm actually hoping to go around the 20th as well, it will be our 7th anniversary. :)

The 20th is a great day for an anniversary as well as a birthday. My husband was born on my parent's 4th anniversary. Makes it easy to remember that date!

I'm hearing now that the birthday FPs aren't a great deal as you get 4 of them per person and they are very limited as to what you can use them for. I"m rethinking my approach to DL at this point.

The gift card sounds to be pretty nice. Also the free ticket, that is good for an entire year (birthday 09 to birthday 10) or until of course it is used before then.

Yes, the FP is good for everyone in the group up to a certain number. I don't remember exactly what that number is though.
I think I read 4, but people at WDW have reported CMs giving enough for the entire group.

My son, who is 10, and has a disease that is likely going to take him from us during his childhood......so we are celebrating the fact that he is 10!!...it is also our 20th Wedding Anniversary.
Good for you and your family for celebrating the time you have with your boy! His 10th birthday will truly be a celebration for all of you. 20 years of marriage is a great celebration too!

...In August though, we don't have APs for DL. I wonder if they'd let us pay for admission and take the fast pass instead as DH's "gift?"
If I were in your situation I would be very confident that you could take the admission, fun card (giftcard good for that day for merchandise in the amount of a one day one park admission), or FPs.
Hmmm... aren't the days on a WDW multi-day pass exchanged 1 day at a time? If so, her DH wouldn't have a multi-day pass at DL and therefore, the way I read it, would not be eligible for the optional gifts. No?

Graduation from law school (woo hoo)!
Very cool! Early congrats!

Do any of you know what I should do for a leap year birthday? My DH b-day is 2/29, but he doesn't get a b-day day this year.
Somewhere in the official info Disney addresses Leap Birthdays. Your DH can benefit from the promo on either 2/28 or 3/1 (not both LOL)

It's cool to see that people have so much to be happy about,

Hopefully if college expenses don't kill us for this year we will be there on my birthday which is the 20th. I will be 63 this go around As with every year when we are there on the 20th we do screaming 20 times and then off to the coast for hanggliding. Love SoCal.

Hello Folks,

This is my first post on these boards. I've been lurking for a few months. So far I've picked up alot of good advice, thanks for that. Myself, wife and 4 kids will be visiting Disneyland in April 2009.

First trip to DL for the other five, but I was there has a kid back in the late seventies.

We will be there April 6th to 11th, but my wife's birthday is not until April 15. Will we be able to get any special recognition from DL or do you have to attend on the actual day of birth?

Thank you for your advice.

Welcome from the oldest person on the boards.

Thanks for the welcome Jack. There's a wealth of information of these boards.

Anybody know if your birthday is a few days after your visit can you still get the birthday treatment?

Welcome out of lurking stage. Next stage is addiction. :)

To take advantage of the free admission (or alternate gifts) you must be in the Park ON your actual birthday, so unless you move your trip by a few days, she won't get any of the "What will you celebrate?" promo perks. HOWEVER, she can still get a birthday button and receive Happy Birthday wishes throughout the day!

Some are "purists" and say you should only wear the button on your actual day. I believe that if you are there to celebrate her birthday, by all means, get the button (at City Hall, the Times Board at the hub, or from any other location that may have them) and wear it proudly!

How exciting for you to return to DL after all these years. You will find some of it is so different now, and other parts have not changed at all!

By the way, don't forget to get First Visit buttons for the "other 5" in your family while you are there. What a fun trip... excited for you! :wizard:

Q: I can't come on my birthday. Can I get free admission on another day?

A: Unfortunately, no. The free admission on your birthday offer means just what it says. It's only valid for free admission on your birthday in 2009.

No need to reply, answered my own question. Found this on another thread.

Thanks anyway.
