What will toddler enjoy at Epcot?

Want to do a day there but don't want little one to be bored!

I really think being bored at Epcot is a misconception. My daughter is now 8 and Epcot was her favorite park from ages 2-5. In Future World you have The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Turtle Talk with Crush, and the entire The Living Seas pavilion. The Imagination pavilion has Figment and the ImageWorks lab and play area. The Land has Living with the Land, and Innoventions West is home to the Character Spot, Baymax, and Joy and Sadness. There's also Spaceship Earth.

The World Showcase offers KidCot coloring stations, Mexico has The Gran Fiesta Tour and Norway has Frozen Ever After. There are acrobats in China, the Matsuriza Taiko Drummers in Japan, Sergio, the juggler, in Italy, and Serveur Amusant in France. There is also a boatload of character meets, from Snow White and Belle to Mulan and Mary Poppins.

We have a two year old that asks for EPCOT on a daily basis We know that's not the norm but, she loves it! We do future world from rope drop until around noon, then head into the world showcase. Once in the world showcase we grab food, meet princesses, do the boat ride in Mexico, more food, FP frozen, and I find that they have the best little areas for them to have a little freedom to run! She loves the train in Germany and watching all of the little shows. I used to worry about her being bored there but I've realized that they follow your lead and tend to love just looking around! Enjoy

What age and height? There is a big difference in a one year old and three year old and what they might enjoy.

My daughter loved Soarin' when she was little, but she was tall for her age and met the 40 in height requirement. Both of my kids could ride TT when they were little, also. They love it.

Journey into the Imagination, Nemo, Frozen, and Grandpa Fiesta Tour are good for all ages. There are some great characters at Epcot to meet. My daughter loved dancing to British Invasion and liked the Chinese Acrobats. Living With the Land can be good, but my daughter was bored with it when she was three. Many toddlers will like Spaceship Earth.

A lot of young children love playing in the fountains, but you will want a change of clothes because they get soaked.

My kids have loved Epcot since they were toddlers. There is a ton of stuff for kids to do. Most rides they are tall enough to go on would be interesting for them. I would skip Ellen's Energy Adventure as it is a 45 minute ride where toddlers would likely get bored.

A few non-ride things that might not have been mentioned already which might be good (depending on age):

Crawl through play tubes in Mission: Space post-ride area
Climbing around cars, getting picture taken with cool background, and playing a racing game in Test Tack post-ride area
Agent P in World Showcase. If your child is old enough they should enjoy pressing buttons on a phone to make things happen around them.
Hedge maze in UK pavilion
You didn't specify when you are going, but during Flower & Garden or Food & Wine festivals there are playgrounds setup for the kids.

This is a really great summary. :thumbsup2

My two girls who are now adults have loved Epcot since they were small. Their favorites were always Spaceship Earth, The Land, Nemo, and they loved doing the Kidcot stops and getting the souvenir passports and having them stamped. You might think the countries would be boring but my kids loved it there. They use to be crazy about Innoventions, but oh well...:sad1:

There are princesses that can be seen almost exclusively in Epcot. My DGD was thrilled to see Mulan. She also loved the little boat ride in Mexico and for some reason, she really enjoyed taking the boat across the lagoon-

I think Epcot tends to be the kids' favorite since it's a lot less stimulating & more relaxed rather than the "go-go-go" type of park. You have to seek out fun so to speak & the fun that you find is more of the laid back, go at your own pace/discovery type of fun. I think it's a welcome change from the other parks. That's my take on it as for both my brother & I Epcot was & is our favorite since we were young children.

My kids always loved the KidCot stops when they were younger (and even now) which is where you get a coloring cardboard cutout of a disney character (Duffy Bear the last time we did it) and get it stamped in each country, and can take time to color. This allows the grown ups to look around too and something for the little one

My (at the time) 18 month old really liked the Seas pavilion. He enjoyed the Nemo ride, Turtle Talk, and looking at the tanks. He liked looking at the cars at the Test Track exit, Spaceship Earth, and Living with the Land. We ate lunch at Garden Grill and he really liked that. He seemed to enjoy strolling around WS and taking in all of the sights and sounds. Our only "miss" at Epcot was FEA...he hated the drop.

Future World till has enough going for it, design wise, to capture the imagination of younger kids.

It's not as "in your face" like MK's rides, rides, rides, but still a great day.
There's a few splash fountains they can play in. Plus the dancing water fountains by Imagination. And the sparkly lights in the pavers at night (Near the main fountain)
Be ready to stop and let the child enjoy their surroundings. (And possibly have a change of clothes for fountain play)

My daughters are now 12 and 10, and Epcot has always been their favorite park. When they were little, they would literally spend over an hour by the dancing water fountains. I learned on trip #1 that they always need a change of clothes on Epcot day, because they love to step in front of the water as it's "dancing" by!

They also have always loved Japan, and wandering around the bridges over the fish ponds.

At 2, I've had to drag my kids out of the Seas pavilion & Imagination pavilion. They would've happily stayed in both for hours. My older one also had us ride the Figment ride at least 4 times in a row before we finally said no more, lol.

My younger DD loved any and all boat rides (still does), so Living with the Land, Grand Fiesta Tour, and the boats that go across the lagoon were all hits. FEA wasn't open yet on our last trip but I'm sure she'll love that one too. Both kids also loved watching the dancing fountains when they were little.

Many good ideas have been listed.

Future World:
  • Spaceship Earth
  • The Living Seas and all of its activities
  • Imagination
  • Character meet and Greets
  • Soaring
  • Living with the Land
World Showcase:
  • China (acrobats), Japan (drummers), France (comical waiter) and Italy (juggler) have outdoor performers (many other countries offer musical acts)
  • Agent P's World Showcase Adventure (this requires a pretty big time commitment)
  • Grand Fiesta Tour
  • Just check out the architecture; some kids also like to try the different foods, etc
  • Mexican Donald, Jasmine, Belle and other meet and greets (but mostly Donald!)
  • Shuttle boats
  • Illuminations

I think this group has a pretty wide range of ages for toddler. I'm not sure any one definition is "right", I think of it as a 1-3 year old.

My son is 14 now, but when he was 2 1/2, I specifically remember these things.

1) He was able to get out of the stroller and walk around freely. (The World Showcase was empty like I haven't seen since. It was May 2005)
2) He liked sitting on the rocks in Japan.
3) He liked the ducks near the fence along the lagoon.
4) We got a water ice or slushie maybe in either Japan or Morocco
5) big fan of the drums in Japan
6) the misting water things that were outside test track, not sure if they are still there, but there is the car wash one near test track
7) watching the fountain
8) he was very happy to climb up and down the steps in Mexico
9) the trains in Germany -- is that still there?
10) I can't remember what ride scared him, maybe it was the old snow white ride, but something did early in the trip and he wouldn't go on anything else that wasn't completely outside for the rest of the trip -- so Dumbo was okay, Figment was not.
11) he liked that room at the end of the Figment ride
12) he was never into coloring so the kidcot stops were not for him but my 5 year old daughter liked them
13) he also refused to meet characters

So, despite the fact that he wouldn't go on rides, didn't like characters and refused to participate in the specifically for kids activity station, he had a great day just wandering about taking in the scenery. He still is a rather low maintenance kid.

My 2 year old loved the train display in world showcase. We had to pry him away
