What will the weather be like?

It does indeed rain in S CA. And predicting winter weather (along with fall and spring) is pretty much impossible (you might as well pick the winner of a horse race based on the colors the jockey is wearing). We don't ever put the summer clothes away because it might be in the 80s for a few days here and there. Next thing you know, we're wearing long underwear (I didn't mean to make that rhyme). But nights are indeed chilly.

Wow! I never realized your weather was so unpredictable-I thought it was pretty much nice and mild (with the exception of nights) all of the time!
Guess I should pack rain ponchos then! Thanks for your help!

It's all a matter of perspective. It is nice and mild if you are used to freezing winters with lots of snow, but winters are the rainy season in CA and it's hard to predict if it will be sunny, warm & dry or cloudy, cool & wet. Plus, there are a lot of micro-climates thanks to the ocean, mountains, valleys, etc., so the weather in one place could be completely different from the weather even 5 miles away. Expect cool temps in the evenings and overnight, but it could be very warm or cool and rainy during the day.

Remember, we're not used to really cold weather. Actually, we're whimps when it comes to cold. I see people in ski jackets when it's 70 degrees out (not me--that's jeans and t-shirt weather for me), but to some, that's cold. Get the high temp below 65, and I'm getting on the cold side and will probably dress in several layers and/or bring extra clothes with me.

Also remember inland does get to freezing overnight and there are many a cold AMs that it is a mere 50 degrees after the sun has risen - now add the dampness and it feels much colder. My brother lives where it gets 40 below in the winter and came here one Feb when it was raining - he was cold to the bone and compained about it feeling very damp. He also misjudged and didn't bring his heavy jacket. He darn near "froze to death" (to hear him talk). So I wouldn't say SoCalers are wimps. Just be prepared for the worst and be blessed when you get mild temps and no rain.

That made me LOL! The 70s are the perfect tshirts and jeans weather here! :sunny:
