DH is trying to get a Wii from a work "promo". Just wondering what accessories we will also need to have to give to the kids on Christmas morning so they will be able to play it that day. I know a game or two but what about controllers, batteries, etc. We still have a PS2 so I am really out of it. If it helps, we have 3kids (DS15,DS13,DD9). Any game suggestions would be appreciated too. They love sports games on PS2 as well as Guitar Hero.

When DBF got ours we also got Mario Kart w/the wheel and 3 extra wheels, we got a total of 4 controllers so we can all play together, we got batteries, battery covers (all different colors so we can tell "our" controllers apart lol) and a charger. The charger we got charges 2 Wiimotes at a time but that works just fine for us. We also got Mario Party 8, Zelda and the longbow attachment and 1 other game at the same time......that was $$$$ but it's been a great gift for the family, a lot of fun!!

The Wii fit board w/the Wii Fit Plus game and the Wii Resort game are lots of fun especially to use as a family. Amazon.com is the best place to get things - no tax and no delivery charge. I order from them quite often and have never had a problem!

The charger for the remotes is a MUST! They eat batteries, and you'll save a lot of money that way. Make sure you have enough remotes for at least all the kids, so there's no fighting!

We got our wii lastChristmas. At that time I just bought the wii wich came with one remote and numchick and then I bought 1 more of each of those. We got Super Mario Galaxy and the wii came with wii sports. I also bought a bunch of rechargeable batteries adn a charger for fairly cheap. Over the year we added lego star wars and lego indiana jones, as well as outdoor challenge. Those games are all for 1-2 people so two remotes was fine.

This Christmas I bought Mario Kart, which comes with one wheel, and then also bought 2 more remotes and 3 more wheels. I did not want to buy eveything at one time last year. This has worked out well for us.

make sure you have a few sets of AA batteries if you want them to be able to play right out of the box. Then replace with the rechargeables at night so they can power up overnight. Definitely need the recharger, though!
