I've read so many different cake flavors in so many different places (birthday threads, anniversary threads, wedding threads). It's hard to put them all together and get a feel for the most yummy of the yummy! So, let's all share them here as a references guide. What fab flavor have you tried at WDW and what made it stand out to you? Thanks! ~Ev :)

Haven't had it yet, but we are having chocolate cake with peanut butter filling for our vow renewal. DH wanted chocolate cake with peanut butter icing as our original wedding cake but I didn't want a "brown" cake, so I am surprising him with it at our vow renewal.

Mommy Poppins did they charge you extra for the peanut butter filling? I know Mel Mel had it for hers, but I never got around to asking her the cost.

When I asked if they could do peanut butter, she said yes and did not indicate that it would be an extra cost--but I don't know that for sure yet.

Our cake was so good! The guests are still talking about it and I'm hoping the top layer will taste o.k. come Oct. 20th of this year :teeth:

We had marble cake with raspberry mousse filling in both layers with fodant over buttercream frosting and fondant flowers all over for decoration - simply DELICIOUS and GORGEOUS!!

I like simple cake, I was never a fan of fruit fillings in cake. As a result, our cake was what some people would call boring: chocolate cake and white chocolate mouse filling. It was perfect, and the only wedding cake I have ever eaten without picking it apart :)

JandJ, your cake was beautiful! I have kinda an odd question though: I know that fondant gives a sleeker look, but I'm afraid it wouldn't give as good a taste as buttercream. Does it taste just as good? My other thing is that I heard that buttercream melts. Do you have any suggestions?

I could be completely wrong, as I have not had any experience with wedding cakes, but I believe that the fondant is layed on top of the buttercream. After the initial cake cutting, the fondant is taken off and served.

That is correct. The banquet staff will take the fondant off before they cut it to reveal the buttercream icing underneath. The buttercream is much better tasting!

I know this might sound a little plain, but DF only likes white cake, so we are having white cake with white chocolate mousse filling.

I went to a weddig once that each of 3 layers was different - one chocolate, one CARROT, one red velvet, and one LEMON. The lemon was absolutely :worship: . SSSSSOOOOOOOOO good....

I always thought wedding cakes were supposed to be white (inside)...so I thought I was bucking tradition when I picked a chocolate cake with amaretto mousse! ;) And it was GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!! :teeth:

My choices are:

-Yellow cake with Bavarian cream filling & Strawberries
-Red Velvet with Cream Cheese.

Can't wait to see how they taste!! After 11.5 months of strict dieting, I think I will enjoy this cake no matter what the flavors will be!!

Is it April 24th yet?? :Pinkbounc

We havent had our cake either yet (5 and a half more months!) but we did do our cake testing and our cake will be as follows: Top Layer: Yellow cake with white chocolate mousse. Middle Layer: Yellow cake with raspberry mousse and fresh raspberries. Bottom Layer: Yellow cake with peanut butter cup mousse! Soooo exciting!!!!! I can't wait to enjoy and endulge! :)

We are having chocolate cake and the white chocolate mousse filling..can't wait to try it!

Laura :bride:

In regard to cost for the peanutbutter filling, I was not billed anything extra for melmel's cake. And it was soooo good, I highly recommend it.

Our cake will be:
top layer marble cake with milk chocolate filling, and fresh strawberries.
(we decided we will not be saving our top layer for the one year ann. instead we are bringing it back to the hotel room with us and having it during our week long honeymoon stay after the wedding)!!
middle layer chocolate cake with peanut butter filling
bottom white cake bavarian creme filling

everyone's sounds soooo yummy! great choices

Thank you! Yes, like hmgolden said, the buttercream is under the fondant. They need fondant to make the clean lines, especially on a square cake like we had, but it doesn't taste so good. The buttercream was really good! I loved my cake :teeth: I wish we had thought ahead and had them cut up the bottom layer and given it to each guest to take back to their rooms. We had to throw most of it away :sad2:
