What WDW resort has the quietest/best-soundproofed rooms?

We think the room at the CR are very quiet.

For the absolute quiestest, it has to be the cabins at FTW. We have been at CBR, WL, and FTW. The cabins can't be beat for quiet and seclusion! We will be returning in June and can't wait!!

On our honeymoon we stayed at the poly (Figi) overlooking the marina on the second floor and it was pretty quiet. Though you could hear people in the hallway, it was very muffled and hardly noticeable.... unlike the Yacht Club (concierge floor) with paper thin walls. At the Yacht Club we heard people walking down the hall as if they were right in our room. Yikes!

From what I've read from other posters, the other buildings at the poly may not be so quiet. Or maybe we just got lucky? Anybody else stayed in the Figi building?

The AKL is very quiet and restful. Even rowdy drunken guests hauling their alcohol soaked bodies that bounced from side to side of the hall were hardly noticable. More of a "what, did you hear that? hmmm never mind..." Very serene. Very nice bars at the AKL too. Oh, and at Jiko there is this amazing selection of African wines that simply can't be missed. What a great place....

We gotta go back....

My opinion is that it really really depends on your neighbors. We have had perfect peace and quiet at the All Stars and had really bad neighbors once at OKW. We've stayed at almost all Disney resorts and have found that, like others, it depends on room location, etc, BUT in my humble opinion neighbors, that is the people next to you, sometimes above you, is what does it.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughtful responses.

I asked because we were at WDW in January (wish we were there right now!) and stayed at ASMu and AKL. The noise level at ASMu was quite high (I'm being very kind to word it this way) and there wasn't even a Pop Warner Football cheerleading squad staying there! I couldn't believe the room-to-room sound levels--something I had not been prepared for. We heard crying babies as well as a couple who were certainly practicing for their honeymoon if they were not exactly honeymooning itself.

We were on the 2nd floor of Country Fair--a combination of factors I would strongly disrecommend to anyone. Being on the 2nd floor has one surrounded by rooms on all sides and, as most of you know, Country Fair is nowhere near the lobby/food court/bus stop. Also, my dh and I don't wake up until at least 9 am on vacation (I know! not the recommended WDW way, but we like it), so the huge volume of noise from the walkways in the a.m. was not appreciated by us.

At AKL we were initially assigned a room on the 3rd floor near the lobby, but after 3 minutes in it, I realized it was going to be too noisy too and after 5 nights of fitful sleep, I couldn't deal. So a fantastic CM at the front desk moved us to a truly quiet room (4515, in case you're wondering!) (with a great view, btw) and I was in blissful, quiet, animal-viewing heaven.

I agree that one's neighbors have a lot to do with the surrounding noises, as well as the location of the room itself. I've been an apartment dweller for over 30 years and I'm quite used to a certain amount of sound coming from one's neighbors, however, I was totally unprepared for the din at ASMu.

Particular thanks to the poster who mentioned FTW. We've been thinking about doing a cabin there next time if the price is right, although if it's the same price as AKL, we'll probably stay there.

Thanks again -- miffy--

We just returned from the YC,and I have to agree, the walls are thin - we had neighbors check-in midway thru our trip and it sounded like they were having a party every night

I have never stayed at the WL, but at the VWL we have never heard a single sound. Very nice.

Poly rooms are louder.

My DW and I were discussing this thread yesterday and her memories of the Poly were a bit different than mine. She remembers a very loud and rude family next door, who seemed to literally pound on the wall and screech like banshees till midnight then begin again at 6am. She says you could hear them coming far down the hall like a bunch of cattle. And now, as I think about this and the rusty wheels in my brain reluctantly turn, I think I just "tuned" our noisy neighbors out. Just another case of "selective memory."

The point being, perhaps the Poly wasn't as quiet as I'd previously posted. And I'd definitly agree with DisneyMim that your hotel experience is very dependent upon your neighbors.

But surely the Poly is more quiet than the AS hotels right? What about CS?

That's just an example of how much of a difference your neighbors can make! When we were there last June we were "blessed" with neighbors who were up late every night. They were also watching sporting events, yelling at good and bad plays, at 2-3 o'clock in the morning. Unfortunately, we haven't had quiet experiences atWL either, so we don't think of VWL or WL as quiet.

Poly was quiet as was POFQ and POR. Never a complaint at any of these locations. *But* ...

Be careful about addressing noise complaints. Always contact the Front Desk or hotel management. Do not request other guests to take their cell phone calls back into their rooms, even when they are fighting with a boyfriend at 12:45am just outside your door (as happened with me last month). ;) It could get ugly.

I'm more partial to the Contemporary - I went there on my honeymoon and spent quite a few trips there with my family while growing up. Any hotel that has the monorail (Grand Floridian & Polynesian) streaming right through the middle have to have the best soundproofed rooms:)

deecee99,

Yikes! If you don't mind saying, what happened at the hotel last month? Another example of "no good deed goes unpunished"? Sounds like quite a story...
