What was the view from your childhood bedroom window?

A huge back yard, lots of green grass, a swing set, and a big garden

From the bedroom window in the first house I could see my grandparents house. The next house over looked the train tracks and the Jiffy Mix factory.

We had the back bedroom in a rowhouse neighborhood in South Philadelphia. The window overlooked an alley and the backs of the houses on the next street.

The south gate of Plattsburgh Air Force Base, a SAC base that housed, nuclear armed, B52s during the cold war. The Cuban Missile Crisis brought a lot of excitement to the place. Car after car after car arriving. The entire base was on full alert. And we think these are scary times. It is a scary time, but it was no picnic for a kid back then either.

Younger years, the armed guard on an AFB. Later, the dormers in my room faced the street. Finally, the last room faced a main street in my neighborhood. It was the only window on that side. Everyone knew it was mine and would come get me to sneak out 😳

South side window, the bottom of which was about 5 feet up, I saw a naval orange tree and a fence. West side window was ceiling to almost to the floor with a huge redwood tree in front of it. So the tree, and about a quarter of the house across the street is all you could see.
Clearly my dad loved trees. He planted a bunch of trees when he and mom bought the house. And I lost count of how many of them over the years got blown over by the wind, or had to be cut down over the 53 years they lived in the house.

A tree and the (residential) street. When my husband and I go for late night walks I'm always shushing him and he gets irritated. I keep reminding him that he didn't grow up sleeping with his head 10 ft from the street so he doesn't realize how much voices carry in the night air! Early morning joggers were the worst!

A large expanse of fields...strawberries, corn, tomatoes. Now those fields are gone, covered by businesses in the famed Little Saigon district in So Cal, Garden Grove.

I lived in two different houses during my childhood, and in both, the primary bedroom was at the back of the house and the smaller bedrooms at the front. From one, I saw the houses across the street, and from the other, I saw the road and cornfields.
