Just got back from a weeklong trip to the World, taking 65 to Nashville, 24 to Chattanooga and 75 to Florida's Turnpike. We always drive it from Louisville so we know the construction zones can be bad, but this was much worse than usual.

Coming back on Saturday we lost about 30 minutes in traffic heading into Atlanta, another 15 in Atlanta proper, then another 30 in Chattanooga, another 30 north of Nashville and another 30 north of Elizabethtown, KY. I really hate the hassle of flying and the extra cost, but we're probably flying next time.

If you drive that same route, might want to look at alternate routes.

So this was all construction, not accidents? Heading about the same way in 3 weeks, so glad you posted. Might be worth going through Alabama. Usually a bit longer, but maybe not now.

I'm from the same area and am planning the drive in June! Hope it's not 15 hours. Yikes. We plan on stopping on Valdosta, Ga and driving the rest in arrival day.

We live in Chattanooga. It normally takes us about 9 hours to get to the World. We went down for spring break one year and it added about 2 1/2 to 3 hours extra for our trip coming home. Not just construction, but extra vehicles on the roads causing more traffic.

I feel your pain.

It's one of the reasons we've said we will never go back during Spring Break.

Ah, good catch. Spring break traffic. That's one of the reasons we don't head down in March / early April. Always busy to/from and at WDW!

Interesting. We did that route returning to Missouri 3 weeks ago and didn't encounter traffic there; it was Saturday Mar 22d. The only construction we encountered was in Southern Illinois.

Due to not wanting to cross Monteagle in the wee hours, I took the Alabama route southbound on my way there.. I did hit a traffic delay in Dothan when someone decided to transport 3 modular homes right at the same time that school buses were on the road, but other than that, no problem.
