What was considered new when you were growing up?

Plastic, synthetic knits like polyester, transistor radios, color tv

Color TV. We were the first in our neighborhood with one, and it didn't work very well.
FM Stereo.

When tv shows started being broadcast in color. For some tv series I still think of the years they were in black and white as the better ones, as they had a visual richness that was lost in the move to color. Though in my area it is hard enough to find black and white movies on tv today, let alone tv shows.

In the 80's I remember my parents buying a microwave. I can remember putting food in it and watching it cook thinking "Wow, this is cool!"

CDs. Technically invented before I was born, but not in wide use (music, computer games, etc.) until after.
