What type of scooter do we need?

We (self, husband, son, daughter in law and 4 and 5 year old granddaughters) are visiting WDW for 5 days/6 nights in early May. My husband has a hard time walking for more than about 10 minutes at a time and has trouble standing for more than a few minutes.

We are planning to rent a scooter but having never rented one before I need help determining what to rent. Here are my questions for the veterans ...

Should I rent at the park each day or have a scooter delivered to the resort (staying at Poly)?

Should I rent a three wheel or four wheel? What's the difference?

If I have a scooter delivered to the resort, do we park outside or bring it to the room? Where/how do we charge it?

I would highly recommend an off-site ECV rental. That way he'll have it to/from transportation as well as around the resort(s). Park rentals cannot leave the parks, and it can be a walk to the transportation. It will also be less expensive to do an off-site rental than renting each day in the parks.

A 3-wheeler will have a tighter turning radius so a little more maneuverable, but 4-wheelers tend to be a tad more stable with less likelihood of tipping. There is also more foot-room on the 4-wheelers.

An ECV will fit into your resort room, and you'll want to keep it in there to charge overnight. You may need to adjust some furniture; housekeeping can help if necessary.

I would rent from offsite for 2 reasons: cost and to have outside park. esp at the end of your park day, the walk and wait for bus, boat or monorail. you can not take park one out the gate, not distance but can be a long slow walk and no place to sit and wait. I like the 3 wheeled one as they are easier to use in the parks for me as the 4 wheeled park ones seem huge in crowds

I hired a 3-wheeler for the duration of our stay in February. The company delivered it to the room and collected it from there as well. The only problems I had with the scooter were entirely down to the company and the condition of the scooter, not because it was a bad idea or I couldn't drive it!

The 3-wheeler meant I could work my way through all the queues with very few problems - there were even a few hairpin turns involved! I felt totally stable throughout and never felt as if it could tip over. The weight is right at the base under the seat so the chances of falling off it are minimal - unless you plan on driving along a kerb with one back wheel on and one wheel off, or going sideways on a steep slope or something.

I agree with a 3 wheel scooter from an offsite company.

One caution - it is difficult to navigate the trolley tracks at MK. Cross them at a 90 degree angle so you don't get stuck in the tracks.
