Hi All,

Just been reading the thread about pick pockets and I've got myself a little worried now. Just wondering what type of bag most people take in with them?

Mine will have to be relatively large as DD will either still be in nappies, or be relatively recently potty trained.

Of all things this is the one that is really worrying me at the moment!

Thanks!

I'm always paranoid about pick pockets and always have a small shoulder bag that I can put across my body so when I'm looking at stuff in the shops and are distracted I can always have one hand on my bag. I also put my purse in a zipped up part of the main part of my bag.

I carry a separate bag or backpack with everything else that is not valuable.

Ive only read its a problem outside of Disneyland.

I even dropped my iphone on my last holiday and someone handed it straight into City Hall.

There's a fair bit of theft in Disney Village and in the park itself. You got lucky with your phone as it's the number 1 objet to steal followed by purses.

Buggys and shopping that people leave on them get taken most in the park but you see people in queues with back packs open and everything.

As some one said on the other thread people tend to forget to be careful on holiday.

Re the bag, depending on the day either I have a cross body one or my card, keys, phone, transport ticket are in my jeans front pockets and I am always aware of my surroundings and the people.

Brill, thanks.

I have a small cross body bag that I use for purse, passports etc in airports, so thinking this will be a good option for my valuables. Think I'll than have to take another bag as a changing/snack bag.

Don't think it will be too much of an issue on rides as DS and DD are young so we only tend to do the gentle rides.

I'm now also thinking that a bike lock for our buggy would be a good idea (even though it is very old - it's very precious to us!).

I tend to take my Mickey Mouse canvas backpack that I got from the parks a few years back. I've never carried anything too precious apart from my phone and camera (but mainly bottles of iced tea and something for if the weather suddenly changes) but I've never had any issues in my countless visits with pickpockets. I always keep my eye on the street vendors between the parks and the disney village, there's always been something shady about them and their dodgy merchandise. My backpack doesn't have any inside pockets so I usually put my hoodie/whatever the softest thing is at the bottom/back and put my phone and camera on top. I like to find something to put in front of that before putting the drinks nearer the front away from me. That way it's a lot harder to get at the valuables :)

My mum always handles the money and stuff so she takes a smaller backpack which she can always keep in reach, you can never be too safe.

Oh and also, when you're sat down at a restaurant or in the parks etc always keep your bag either attached to you at all times or hidden from view. I've witnessed a bag snatch before (not at Disney, at KFC in England but still  ) and it's really made me very cautious.

I usually take a small bag which I put the strap across my body and keep my arm on it when i'm watching the parades etc. I always remind my dad to watch hi wallet as he always has it in his back pocket, I do the same when we are in London.

I actually prefer to go in the winter as I can wear my ski coat which has inside pockets so I don't require a bag.

Just be aware of your surroundings and don't let your guard drop just like you would back home and shopping

Bike lock is a fab idea, ive taken one on all our trips as my son's wheelchair buggy cost a whopping £500 and no way do I want this stolen, yeah you may get funny looks from people but at least you know it's going to be there when you go back. Just don't leave any shopping or toys on the buggy itself tho
