We will be at WDW 12/2 -12/7 and have the QSDP. If we decide to pay OOP for a nice meal, it seems like it will be very difficult to get into any of the DP restaurants- maybe we would have more luck at ones that aren't on the dining plan? :confused3 Are they mostly in DTD? Which ones are they? (Besides Rainforest Cafe, we have one in our city:))

Most of them are in DTD or in the Swan/Dolphin.

At Epcot- Bistro de Paris (it doesn't have a children's menu and is more for adults then children- the families I did see in their were definately put in the corners of the place- as far away from other patrons as possible)

AT Swan/Dolphin- their are 5 places I believe but I have only been to the fountain- which is a ice cream shop and simple counter service place- the food is good but it is not fancy by any means

At DTD- Portabella Yacht Club isn't and I think their may be a couple of others but I don't know them off the top of my head.

You might like Fulton's Crabhouse at DTD.

I would say Il Mulino at the Swan, good Italian Restaurant.. So, you ARE NOT on the Dining plan? and have not made any reservations? If thats the case I would call Disney reservations and see if closer to your date their are cancellations. Here are some of my favorites:
MK: Liberty Tavern
Crystal Palace
EP: Le Cellier in Canada ( this is very hard to get into even when you call 180 days in advance) also on the pricier side
La Hacienda in Mexico
HS: The Brown Derby (also on the pricier side)
Sci- Fi Theatre
50's Cafe
AK: has my least favorite food spots however, Tusker house is good for character buffet, and I have heard good things about the Yak and Yeti Restaurant.
The Epcot resorts have lots of good restaurants and all those resorts are so close to eachother and also to the Swan and Dolphin..
Ohana at the Polynesian is also a great place to eat.
Remember, you are at Disney and nothing is cheap..

We do have free quick service, but were looking for some ideas if we wanted to do a sit down meal.

I was there last week, don't do the dining plan, and ate at Il Mulino and bluezoo (had reservations made a few months ago). Both were completely full, same as the Disney restaurants. Didn't see children in either one (we are adult only group). I'm sure close proximity to Epcot's F&W had something to do with it because we've eaten at these restaurants often in the past and have never seen them this crowded.

Not on Dining Plan

Victoria and Alberts
Le Bistro de Paris
Anything at Swan or Dolphin or any Hotel Plaza Boulevard Resort
With the exception of Captain Jack's, Planet Hollywood, and Raglan Road, any table service at Downtown Disney
Rainforest Cafe at AK

All restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin

All restaurants at Shades of Green

Downtown Disney TS:
Portobello
Fulton's
Rainforest Café
T-Rex Cafe
Bongos
Wolfgang Puck's Dining Room (upstairs; not the cafe - they take it)
House of Blues
Paradiso 37

Epcot TS:
Bistro de Paris

Animal Kingdom TS (at the park but outside the gates):
Rainforest Cafe

Grand Floridian:
Victoria and Albert's
Garden View Tea Room

I'm sure close proximity to Epcot's F&W had something to do with it because we've eaten at these restaurants often in the past and have never seen them this crowded.

There was a HUGE convention at the Swan/Dolphin last week, which would account for larger crowds made up primarily of adults.
