at the other hotels ?? Does the Disney transportation take you from your resort to others for dining ??
I'm wondering if time is a huge factor in making reservations ?
Thanks In Advance

Our second trip
All-Star Movies

We always take our rental car when we're dining at some other resort's restaurant.

If you had to use Disney Transporation, you could take a bus from your resort to a theme park (if it is open) or Downtown Disney, and then connect there to a bus to the hotel you're heading for. It's a long process, so you may prefer to just get a taxi.

Hi!
We've taken a taxi to go from resort to resort. Sometimes it just works out better. It's less time consuming. Have fun!

Time is a factor for Disney-run transportation. There is no direct transportation from one resort to another unless you count the three resorts on the monorail line, or the Epcot resorts on the Friendship boat line (but you can also walk between those if you want to).

To take a Disney bus from one resort to another, you will have to transfer someplace. The best way to do this is to determine (if the theme parks are still open) which theme park is closest to the resort you want to go to, and switch buses there. If the theme parks are closed, you will need to switch at Downtown Disney and that is a long bus ride from almost everywhere.

I allow 45 minutes to an hour for bus transfers to resorts. Allow anything less, and I think you wind up risking being late if you have just missed a bus at the starting or transfer points. It looks like you are at All-Star Movies and you might also have to take into account that sometimes the buses are shared amongst the All-Star Resorts and you might be making more stops.

Taxis work for direct transportation and cost about $10-15 plus tip from one location on Disney property to another.

I was also having this dilema, (we have reservations at Grand Floridian Cafe), but we are going to try to do is leave the park we are at for the day, and go to dinner, rather than going from our resort. Hopefully that will make things a little less time consuming. Then if we want to take a break after dinner, we can head back to our resort without being pushed for time (like making a reservation on time). Currently, it looks as if we will be using Disney Transportation exclusively, so this was the best option for us.

I think the monorail resorts are the easiest to get to for dining when you don't have a car. For the GF for example, even if you leave from your resort, just take the bus to MK, then immediately get on the resort monorail. If you are eating at the Contemporary it is easier to walk from the MK busstops. For Epcot resorts you can walk if you are at Epcot. It gets complicated if you are going to AKL however, then I recommend a taxi if you are pressed for time. On our last trip we dined at many resort restuarants and it was easier than I had thought it would be. Taking cabs is an option but it gets pricey if you do it very often which we did when my fil was with us who is disabled and can only walk short distances and the cabs couldn't accomodate his scooter.

For the GF for example, even if you leave from your resort, just take the bus to MK, then immediately get on the resort monorail.

A faster way to do this (if the weather is cooperating) is to take the resort launch from the MK to the Grand Floridian. The launch is a surprisingly fast little boat and will go directly to the GF. The monorail will stop at the Contemporary, the TTC and the Polynesian before it gets to the GF.

if you are planning on eating at other resorts and using disney transportation, you may want to double check how long it takes the bus to get from your resort to downtown disney (where you transfer). when we stayed at the all star movies, it took a long time to get to DD and we had to leave really early. and after dinner, when you are exhausted from a day of touring, it really sucks to have to spend an hour+ just getting back to your resort.

we usually go straight from the park to the resort we are eating at that night via whatever transportation WDW supplies.

we never use our car at WDW due to 1)always getting lost and 2)we are hicks from the sticks so we never ride buses/monorails/boats here at home and to us it's just another attraction ( ok we are easily amused but that's better than the alternative)

getting back is more painful but doable usually( selective memory kicking in and happily forgetting our 2 hr bus ride from CS to Pop a couple yrs back, forgettfulness is so blissful sometimes)

...

The early morning breakfast busses will take you to the resort IF YOUR ADR IS EARLY ENOUGH.

If you have an ADR for CM at the CR for 7AM, the bus will drop you off at the CR (since the reosrt monorail doesn't start until 7AM.

If you have an ADR for Boma at AKL, the AK bus will drop you off at AKL.

If you have an ADR at the BC, the MGM bus will drop you off at the BC.

Now, if your ADR is late or the park is having morning EMH, then those busses will already be on their normal park schedule and you will have to use a second means of transportation to get to your ADR (walk, monorail, boat, or bus transfer)

We used a rental car one day during our trip, for our free day. We went to the Contemporary for bkfst @ Chef Mickey's, and dinner @ Ohana. The other days we went to meals at other resorts directly from the theme park.

We don't rely on Disney Transport just because of the time it takes to get to everything.

We always use our rental car when going from resort to resort or to any park or venue not serviced by the monorails.

It depends on whether or not we rent a car.

If I don't have a car I only eat at the parks or the resort restaurants that are on the monorail line.

I find it a hassle to eat at a spot where you have to keep changing transportation.
