We just booked (yesterday!!) our 4 night NYE cruise out of Galveston on the Wonder! I have like 2 days to pack! I have NO idea what the weather will be like, or if NYE will be a formal night, or anything!! Do any of you know what we should expect??

From DCL

Q:
What should I wear to dinner?

A:
The dress code for dinner varies by the venue or theme night of your cruise. In general, most meals are "cruise casual"no swimwear or tank tops. Most cruises also have special theme nights with optional opportunities to get dressed up for a special family photo. Here's a breakdown of events by cruise itinerary:

On 3-night cruises:
"One cruise casual nightNo swimwear or tank tops
"One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
"One "optional dress-up night"jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women

On 4-night cruises:
"First night is cruise casual no swimwear or tank tops
"One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
"One optional dress-up nightjacket for men, and dress or pantsuit for women
"Final night is cruise casualno swimwear or tank tops

On 7-night cruises:
"First night is cruise casualno swimwear or tank tops
"One themed night (pirate, tropical or other themed deck party)
"3 additional cruise casual nightsno swimwear or tank tops
"One formal and one semi-formal nighttwo great opportunities to dress-up and take advantage of the onboard photography services. Though optional, we recommend: Dress pants with a jacket or a suit for men, and dress or pantsuit for women

Dress code at Palo:
"Men: Dress pants and dress shirt (a jacket is optional)
"Women: Dress or pantsuit
"No jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes

Dress code at Remy:
"Men: Dress pants with jacket (sports or suit jacket) is requiredties are optional.
"Women: A dress, cocktail dress, pantsuit or skirt/blouse is required
"No jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes

Yes, thank you for that, I guess I should be more specific, though! I'm wondering about the weather - do I pack shorts, pants, tank tops, long sleeves or what this time of year?? Is it warm enough to swim, or lay out in a swim suit? And NYE is our first night, so I didn't know if they have a party that night, and if that would be our formal attire? I'm just kinda panicked! :-)

Go online to the weather for that area and do a 7 day forecast. This will help determine what it will be like.

Dress-up is optional, especially on the shorter cruises. Pack a dressy blouse and pair it with nice slacks or skirt and you're good to go. Or a cocktail dress would be fine.

Swim-suit weather: that depends on the temps you're accustomed to at home. If you have snowy weather at home, your cruise will be balmy.

We are on the same cruise and NY's eve is a "formal" night but our family will be in dresses for the ladies and my 7 year old daughter. The men will wear suits and my sons will wear navy blazers and khaki pants. Others on the cruise have indicated they will dress up but others have said they want to be comfortable and will dress casual. People seem to think there will be a variety of dress for NY's eve. I have packed a variety of clothes - shorts and pants, short/long sleeved tops and a light jacket.

Oh thank you SO much!! I did check the weather as a PP suggested...looks like rain but highs in the upper 70's :-) I appreciate the NYE info for sure! I thought it might be special! Is there a party, and do you know if they have a countdown, etc? Do you know if they heat the water in the pools on the ship? My mind is whirling!! :-)

Not sure about the pools since this is our first cruise. But people talk about swimming immediately upon boarding and since Galveston won't be hot this time of the year maybe the pools are heated? I do believe there is a countdown. There is a party that has a toast and hats given out. I think fireworks as well?

That all sounds awesome! We can't wait! My husband and I are never this spontaneous, but we've decided life's too short to sit back and watch it pass us by! We'll be celebrating our 36th anniversary, too. So excited!!

Wow! How spontaneous! We booked about 11 months ago and can't believe the cruise is almost here! Happy Anniversary and have a great cruise! We celebrate our 18th just after the cruise!

We were on the Wonder out of Galveston 2 weeks ago and the sail away day was freezing (in the 40s). Also our debarkation day was rainy and cold. We're from Phoenix so we were very cold. We brought 2 warm outfit each and wore it on the first and last day of the cruise. We also found the theaters and public areas to be a tad chilly so a light jacket came in handy. The rest of the trip was shorts and swimsuit weather!

We are on the same cruise! Going to pack a variety of clothing. We were on the Magic in February and the pools weren't heated. My son was able to swim on the 2nd or 3rd day as we got closer to Cozumel. Water in Cozumel was fine for swimming in early Feb.

Thank you! Happy Anniversary to you, too!! We had actually booked a cruise for Aug 2014 for us and two of our kids (and their families), but just found out DS and DDIL are expecting again, so that cruise will have to be postponed! ;-) And my DH couldn't wait all the way to 2015, so we just said - why not?? And had the deposit transferred to this cruise! We both keep pinching ourselves and saying, "Are we really going on a cruise in 3 days???" Yay!!

So are you wearing formal clothes the first night?

Looks like the high for Cozumel will be 79 F.

Look at forecast - just got off 7 day fantasy and wore shorts entire time. You can do cruise casual on formal nights (anything goes really we saw lots of people bring different stuff) just bring a sweatshirt it gets windy on sea days!

I'm pretty sure even the navigators state every day that the pools and aquaduck k/duck/if applicable are 82 degrees or something like that? The temperature is very constant, I guess it is to the individual if that's heated enough or not? :goodvibes we cruised last January and it was very cold and foggy on the first and last days We did do snorkeling and swimming excursions at some ports and I wore shorts all day at key west and spent my sea days poolside.

Be sure you ask for some happy anniversary buttons at GS when you get on to wear and have everyone wish you happy anniversary! As others have indicated, there will for sure be NYE activities Enjoy your cruise!
