I just booked our 1st trip for dec and now I'm wondering what I should pack we do plan on the Candlelight processional and Mickey's Christmas party I assume jeans and a jacket??? but what about the days??? also any must do's for the holiday season. We were just there in June and we aill be back in May so I'm looking for holiday stuff for myself and dd who will be 6 by then...thanks

I think the weather can vary but we were there this past 12/16-12/20 and it was pretty cold. During the day you could wear jeans and a short sleeve shirt and maybe carry a sweater or jacket in case you got cold. At night, people were wearing jeans, jackets, sweatshirts, etc. I tried wearing flip flops one night to MVMCP and my toes were SOOO cold. A lot of people were wearing gloves and scarves.

There's no way of knowing how cold it will be in WDW in December--you would at the very least need a heavy sweater at night, but possibly a warm jacket. When we were there in December 2003, DH and I both had warm jackets but our hands and heads were freezing (temp was in the 40s and quite windy)--one night we just gave up and went back to our hotel.

When we were at WDW in December 2004, we came prepared with heavy jackets, gloves, hats, and DH even had long underwear! The weather turned out to be 70ish during the day and in the mid 50s at night--not nearly as cold as the previous December...no long underwear, hats, or gloves required!

It seems to vary a lot from year to year. I've been in December when it was really really hot in the parks during the day, and times when I've actually needed a sweatshirt during the day.

The average outfit for me is usually jeans and t-shirt, with a lightweight jacket for early morning when it's still a little chilly. I usually pack at least one pair of shorts, though.

We love going in December but the weather is erratic. It can be very hot and shorts are comfortable or freezing and a down coat is nice. Just pack both if you like comfort. There is a sleigh ride at WL that is nice. Also WL and GF are fun to visit. I see you are planning MVMCP and the Processional which are both great. Osborne lights are another "do not miss".

ditto for what most have said,,,as a northeastern ohioan i bring and have worn my heavy winter jacket, last trip it got to 40 one day, 32 at night( really wouldn't have minded a hat and gloves, too cold to stay for fantasmic as the seats are metal....frozen tushes). any time we have gone in the winter( early dec to mid Jan) we have had some days at 75-85, some days at 40-50 or less. most nights we have needed at least a light weight jacket or sweat shirt and pants even if the day is warm as once the sun is down ( 6 ish or so)it gets colder fast.

still i'll trade cold for crowds any day, just need to dress accordingly

The weather in December is definitely quite variable -- on our last trip (just 4 days) it went from jacket/hat/gloves-weather to shorts-weather. So I'm a big believer in layering.

I've become a fan of the convertible pants, where you zip off the bottom of the legs to turn them into shorts.

We had lots of rain the only time we went in December...so the lifesaver for me was a light rain jacket! Cheap ponchos and unbrellas would also be a good investment.

As everyone has said, weather is incredibly variable in December. We were at WDW from December 5-11 last year, and it was in the 80's every day and warm enough at night to still wear short sleeves. But the weeks immediately preceeding and following were much colder. Since we usually visit in December and January, I've found that our best bet is to check the Orlando weather forecast just before you leave. It will give you a pretty good idea what to expect in terms of temperature ranges. Doing that certainly made it much easier for us to pack, knowing that the weather was going to be so warm.

Could be anything - go prepared. If luggage space is an issue, then try to bring thin but warm things, like the silk longjohns to wear under your clothes. Definitely bring along hats, gloves, and scarves, just in case it ends up being really freezing at night, which is very possible. However, you do also need to be prepared for milder weather, which is just as possible. I'm sorry none of us can offer more specific help - it's just impossible to predict!
