What to wear for dinner at Be Our Guest

We will be having dinner at BOG. What should we wear?

We went last Saturday night, and everyone had on park clothes. This was far from being a "nice" restaurant. It is only one credit for a reason, we were expecting a lot more but were disappointed. The only impressive thing was the line outside trying to get in without a reservation. It was actually a joke among my party of 6 that I had killed myself watching for cancellations so we could get in. I tried 2 hr's the first day reservations opened and 1 was available for the entire 8 days we were there. I think lunch would be much better without all the stress. The food was OK, but not as good as Crystal Palace or 'Ohana if comparing to one dining credit. I wanted so much to love this place but it just didn't happen.

reviews like that are making me rethink our dinner ADR there for April...wondering if I should just try out the CS for lunch and use our TS credit for dinner elsewhere? I have time to decide, in the meantime I keep reading reviews and none have been outstanding (food wise) hmmmmm:confused:

Our Ratings of Be Our Guest (lunch // dinner): (11/3/2012)
. . . food price value: B // C
. . . food quality: B // C
. . . food quantity per serving: B // C
. . . food prep speed: B // C
. . . food selection: B // B
. . . seating quantity: A // A
. . . seating comfort: B // B
. . . eatery atmosphere: A // A
. . . eatery convenience: B // B
. . . staff friendliness: B // B
. . . staff attentiveness: C // C
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: The eatery has different food themes than usually found
in a park. Although not "signature" eatery quality, food is good and
tasty. Lunch is QS with no ressies available, and dinner is TS and
ressies are highly advised. The atmosphere is very well done and
probably the most fancy and most themed of any WDW eatery.
As a QS eatery it is one of the best, as a TS eatery it is average.
(For dinner, think:CRT -- good atmosphere, average food quality.)

Our personal reviews of menu offerings:
LUNCH:
. . . tuna nicoise salad - good, but light on the olives for my taste
. . . croque monsieur sandwich - nice, but Béchamel needs more nutmeg
. . . turkey on a warm baguette - good, especially with the dijon
. . . grilled steak sandwich - tasty, but slightly tough
. . . braised pork - recommended
. . . vegetable quiche - wife said she enjoyed it (real men don't taste quiche)
DINNER:
. . . pork rack chop - the pasta out-shined the pork
. . . rotisserie rock hen - nicely done and recommended
. . . pan-seared salmon - cooked properly, but average taste
. . . grilled strip steak - pretty good, not great, steak
. . . sautéed shrimp and scallops - were only average
. . . oven-baked ratatouille - above average

I have to say the braised pork was awesome, the grilled streak sandwich was tasteless, and very tough!!!

We ate lunch at BOG twice the last two weeks and absolutely loved the place. We had the braised pork, which was delicious, and the service and ambiance were outstanding for a QS. I heard nothing but good things from those around me and cannot imagine anyone not enjoying the restaurant.

*Dressing up* for a park restaurant would never work when you are in the park all day. It doesn't even work at the resort restaurants.

Trying to get in this place for the week of March 30th to April 6th. Is it going to be worth my hassle? .......... Been on the phone now for 3 days.

Did you eat lunch or dinner? I think lunch would probably have been a much better option because it obviously beats cs in any other park.

I wouldn't waste my time for dinner, lunch I think is the best option.

Great for QS, I agree. Dinner was not the best.

Thanks for all the info. I have been reading all the posts over the past few weeks and I have to admit that dinner at BOG isn't really exciting me as I had hoped or expected. I am also thinking about changing BOG from dinner to lunch, the lunch menu seems to be more appetizing. Especially the turkey baguette and braised pork.

agree Figgiefan! Now to decide where to use the TS for dinner! Once I do that I will go ahead and cancel the Dinner ADR at BOG for April 12 if anyone is looking for one

I agree with you - I was so looking forward to Be our Guest but I ended up disliking it very much. It was easily the worst meal of our trip. The steak was so fatty I couldn't eat it (Do people like the fat on steak? Maybe I am the weird one?) or maybe I was spoiled from the great steaks I got at le cellier and cali grill but I was extremely disappointed. We also sat in the West Wing which we found too dark and rather boring. The Ballroom looked great though - we would have liked to dine in there, Oh well.

Just me, but i would keep the dinner adr. We got in line for linch at 1045am, and ate around noon on a VERY slow monday in late november. I enjoyed lunch, although $50 for 2 adults and 2. Kids was steep. I would have preferred dinner with an adr so we didnt have to fight the crowds just to eat at a counter service.

Plus, being on the dining plan, you dont have to worry about cost. I will say that dessert was AMAZING by any standard. The chocolate filled creme puff was to die for!

We had both lunch and dinner at BOG and while I enjoyed dinner I really really liked the lunch that was served.

DH said dinner reminded him of a cattle call, it was that rushed. I think that part of the problem is that we were there just before their opening and the staff is still getting the kinks worked out. This is a huge restaurant and serving all of those meals must be a challenge. Our dinner was cold.

I think that it is worth an ADR if you are in the MK. You definitely do not need to "dress" for dinner.

My DD and I plan to try dinner there in May. I have our ADR set and we will be going into MK that day just for the evening so we will probably wear a cute sundress and sandals if weather is really nice.....:goodvibes

I am excited to give it a try.

We do plan too eat lunch too on our full day at MK earlier in the week.

I am excited to try and it and take in all the sites and sounds of the new Fantasyland.

We got too preview it all in October at MNSSHP, but it was just overwhelming and too much in that short evening. I can not wait to go back and take my time and explore.
We got too see the main dining ballroom even though it was not open and it looked awesome!!

Sorry you had a bad experience. We heard nothing but excitement and enjoyment from all we talked to. We had lunch twice in our trip, and it was hand's down the best CS meal we had (including some TS). The braised pork was seasoned well and delicious. The ambiance was amazing to us. We even cancelled our dinner ressie while there because it was so easy to get in for lunch with very little wait time (before grand opening - that opened the flood gates :crazy2:).

We ate there Saturday night and thought it was terrific. The food was quite good, though not exotic by any means, but I'm very okay with that. We split the steak and the pork chop dinners, and found them to both be very flavorful and good cuts of meat. We had also requested seating in the West Wing and we got it. I'm glad we did, because the ballroom was unbelievably loud. It sounded like a school cafeteria.

DW and I didn't find the West Wing boring at all. We found it charming and loved all of the storytelling elements in the room. Pus, it was darker and quieter, just right for our anniversary dinner.
