We are heading down in about a month, and i have some dress questions. My fiance and I are both rather plain people and don't dress up much at all. Anyways, I was planning on changing before going to the Artist Point into something other than shorts. But we have PS at Boma at 5:30pm and were planning on heading to the AKL straight from the park. Is it OK to wear shorts there? I would hate to be underdressed....

THANKS!!

Can't reply to Artist Point but my DH and I are also plain dressers and wore shorts and jeans to BOMA and were not out of place at all. Enjoy your trip:D

Boma is very casual.... we also wore shorts for dinner. I can't answer personally about Artist Point either but I think you would be fine in shorts. I have not heard anything otherwise.

Both are casual. If your the type of person who is going to feel like people are staring even when their not, then don't wear shorts.

I would think that shorts would be just fine at Boma.

If you are going to stress over it...then I would dress up a bit more for Artist Point.

EITHER WAY!!! HAVE FUN!!! Who cares?

My family of four went to Artist Point in shorts and T-shirts last May. Some people were dressed like us and others were more dressed up. Nobody seemed to care how anyone else was dressed..... one of the best things about WDW!

If you think you might feel a little out of place in shorts, how about a skort? And maybe both of you could wear a knit shirt with a collar?

Here is an idea:

On your way into AK stash a bag into a locker with some fresh clothes, make up ,etc. then before heading to Boma, get changed. If you don't want to carry a duffle bag into the restaurant with you, there are lockers right outside next to the pool (by Mara).

Boma is casual, park attire is fine, although I'm big on showering before heading off to dinner regardless of where I'm eating during the hot summer months. I just can't enjoy myself when I'm sticky and grimey.

Artists Point is NOT casual. ALthough it's far from formal, I feel that taking a few moments to dress up just a bit before one dines at a restaurant of that calibre is appropriate. A sundress or even capris and a nice blouse for her, chino's and a golf shirt for him would be fine. Cut offs and t-shirts would not.

IMHO just because one is on vacation doesn't mean that all manners fly out the window. And IMHO dressing appropriately is part of having good manners.

Shorts are fine for Boma and Artist Point.

Hubby and I have done everything at Aritst point from addidas sport shorts/tees to sundresses/khakis/polo shirts. All have been fine.

The food and service at both are wonderful.

At night at Artist Point, you may see more people dressing up a little, but that is their choice...and also this is a favorite restaurant of many of the locals to celebrate at...so

Enjoy!!

We have eaten at both Boma's and Artist Point and we had shorts and t-shirts on. Didn't feel out of place at all.

All resturants at Walt Disney World with the exception of V&As are park casual, although some say no tanktops for men. Some people want to dress up for a special occasion or event, that is up to the individual. Boma is defently just Park casual it is a buffet, while Artist Point may be the one I wear the nicer outfit to it is from a menu.

We went to AP during our March vacation and we weren't all "dressy". I think we all wore khaki shorts and the boys wore golf shirts and I just had some type of casual shirt on. I don't think I saw anyone in a tie or anything that wasn't "I'm on vacation in Florida"ish. Enjoy!

Shula's requests a jacket for men. Citrico's request no shorts or tank tops. CG also rquests no tank tops or cut-offs.

I just don't see why people have such a problem putting on chino's and a golf shirt. No one is asking for a suit and tie, but GEEZ after a day at the parks people STINK! Since one should shower and change anyhow (Common courtesy to not go out to dinner smelling of BO), why is it so hard to put on a collared shirt and slacks?

GAPO is definately not appreciated !

That is one thing that really makes me sick....I would rather have someone smoking and belching sitting next to me.

Not sure what GAPO is (not sure if I want to)....but in further response to the original post about what is appropriate attire at these restaurants, I think that it isn't so much what you are wearing (for instance if you don't own "chinos and a collared shirt") but rather that you are dressed neat, clean and in appropriate clothes (i.e., no bathing suits, etc.). I don't think people need to all own the same exact outfit for it to be appropriate. JMHO.:D
