I just got my pricing for my rose petal toss and I have to say....ridiculous!!!

I am having a real problem with paying so much for cups of petals....the only reason I want them was for the look.

So, if I am having my wedding at the YCG...what else could I have?

TIA!

Maybe Mickey confetti or some other sort of confetti you can have oversized confetti if you want, or have you looked at the price of silk petels? if the prices you have are for real ones, silk is normally cheaper.

It's outdoors though, so I think it has to be real petals doesn't it?

Yea, that is why we are limited. Since it is an outdoor location, it can't be silk petals or confetti.....

This is going to sound very old fashioned - but what about rice? It was used in Cinderella...

I have also seen bird seed used before.

Just out of curiousity can I ask what the rose petals cost? I wanted to try to see if we could have them - but maybe we should switch plans too.

Did you opt for the petal cones or just petals? We are doing petals in a basket and instead of petals for 98 people we reduced that to petals for 75 people. Since they're going to be in a basket and people are just taking handfuls I figured no one would notice if we had a few less.

You could also do streamer wands. I've seen pics of these and I'm sure you could get them cheap online.

You could always do bubbles.

I think the only rice option is bio-rice... regular rice hurts the birds or something....
I don't think you can use birdseed because it grows weeds.... and that's not magical.

Yeah if you are getting petal cones they are expensive but I got them in a little bag and they were $3.50 or like Lindsay said you can get them in a basket and let everyone grab a handful and I think its cheaper than $3.50. If you really wanted the cones you can make them. I don't know how much they charge if you make your own but its worth asking.

what about bubbles? I have seen really cute little bubble favors... that won't even need to be swept up!

Wow they really make it difficult don't they. Who would have ever thought about weeds or the bird choking!!! I have never heard of bio-rice but it sounds expensive.

I think the bubbles could be really fun! but thinking about it the only negative is that bubbles can also stain formal dresses.

John Unrue has this amazing picture from Maui of doves flying out of boxes. Would it be possible to get doves and just have the doves fly as you come down the isle? It would certainly be a cool picture.

I tried to copy it here but I can't so take a look its on the homepage.

Also can you rent the cannons that shoot the petals at the end of the isle? Is that any cheaper?

we used bubbles and they were gorgeous!!!

I bought them online for super cheap and decorated them myself...

And then put them in these baskets to be handed out by our attendants (DH's nieces)

I've heard horrible things about doves (pooping doves, doves that won't fly...) I'm pretty sure they're expensive... I've heard the same things about butterflies (that they die in the envelopes)

I REALLY wanted a petal cannon. Like, a lot. However, the confetti cannon is about $500 and I'm sure it would be more expensive to fill that with petals... I think it's only cost effective if you are having a lot of people.

I think Vanessa (Figmentfan) used bubbles and personalized them which was really cute. Caryn used bubbles too and they were fun.

We got just the petals in a basket and disney passed them around for everyone to get a handful of. It was 2.50 I want to say, and we also asked to pay for less people that were coming & that worked out great.

Just a warning about bubbles. Some of the less expensive ones can stain and be sticky. Read what Carly had to say about it. I'm going to use petals now after reading this!!

wow :surfweb: i read that and feel bad for her review. It must have been a bad batch honestly. We had no problems with our bubbles. I got them on clearance from knot.com. We had 70 guests blowing bubbles and received no stickiness (or spit lol!). We loved it and had no cleanup! :) Oh...and no staining either. Maybe hers was just a bad experience :confused3

I would say it was a bad batch, but the ones I bought from Oriental Trading did it as well! (Yes I had my own staged exit from my office!) :confused3 I dunno!

Could you supply your own rose petals instead of going through WDW florist?? I know you can get 2 doz at Costco for like $15... you could just pull them apart maybe??

I do not know if this is allowed though... maybe another DisBride would know??
