Hello! I'm new to this site and already very thankful for the information I've received. I'm going to Disney next week with my 4 yr. old for his first trip! I've not been in about 10 years myself. I planned to take a small backpack with necessary items but wanted some advice on what might be useful etc. Thanks in advance for any advice!

We took ponchos, a small supply of medicines (tums, advil, kids tylenol), wipes, some ziploc bags, crayon rolls for restaurants, a camp towel, pennies and quarters to press, ID, debit card, chap stick, hmmm that is all that I can think of. We didn't really use anything other than the camp towel and the wipes. Oh we did use the crayon rolls a lot at restaurants.

Ohhh, most important thing- my camera.

Sunscreen. Change of clothes-if your child likes to play in the water.

Our favorite item was the spray mister fan.

One of these trips, I'm determined to try and go with no bag so I can take advantage of the no bag entry line. I saw lots of people go thru with cargo shorts on. I bet a very small camera would fit in a cargo pocket.

Enjoy your trip!

Definitely take cheapie ponchos...Walmart camping department has them for less than a dollar apiece. We actually took enough to use 1 per day per person. Much better than paying $7 in the park!

Also, take a couple of small lollipops (just the hard-candy kind, not messy chocolate-center kind!) These won't melt in heat like some sweet snacks can. The small suckers are good for keeping a child busy & satisfied when stuck in a line, without filling them up on too much snacks. Sucking on hard candy can also help from getting too thirsty (although do offer water, too.)

There are mini water bottles available now (I've seen 6 oz & 8 oz sizes) which are much easier to carry around in a back pack...and they even sell lanyard water-bottle holders & clip-on water bottle holders (even Micky-shaped ones) which make it very easy to carry around water.

we will also pack some snacks like those mini bags of oreo's or a baggie of candy jelly beans etc plus we pack water bottles along with the before mentioned things our backpack has a little of everything

We brought along a full size stroller from home with a nice big basket underneath to hold a beach towel, change of clothes for the 3 yo, various lotions, several bottles of drinks, and a couple bags of souveniers. No problems with leaving them in the stroller while riding. I brought along a backpack as well, but never needed it.

Thanks everyone - huge help! I especially love the sucker idea - genius!
