I'm starting to pack a box to send down for our family's vacation at OKW in January.

I know there are places to purchase fresh food on (and off) site, but I'd like to send as much ahead as I can get away with. Size / weight of box is relatively unimportant.

Can anyone see anything glaringly omitted from this list?

Coffee (the kind that comes in filter packs)
English muffins / bagels
Salt / Pepper
Peanut Butter
Jelly
Bacon (precooked)
Laundry detergent
Water
Cereal
Dryer sheets
Lysol
Air freshener
Sponge
Drink mix
Medicines ( cold / cough / neosporin NOT prescription stuff)
Sunscreen
Moleskin

I plan on rolling up some of the food in sweats / extra clothes to reduce the luggage we bring down with us. Since it will be winter, we'll already be wearing our coats / hats / gloves etc.

We're only looking to eat breakfast in the room regularly with the rest reserved for mid afternoon snacks / late night munchies.

Any ideas? :wave2:

Hmmm, personally, I think shipping the medical supplies and extra clothing is a good idea...but the actual food items I think I'd purchase at Publix (assuming you have a car). I'd probably purchase most of the cleaning poducts at Publix, also...except the laundry soap, since you'll probably send a fairly small box or a zip-loc.

Napkins?..You might want to seperate cleaning/ food(Or order food from net grocer, etc). I carry my medicines on the plane. ALso water you can have shipped for free through Staples.

Also no need for a sponge, since they are included at your villa.

Wouldn't the shipping charges exceed the cost of getting the items there either onsite or via renting a car or via a grocery delivery services (taking into account the higher costs for many items)?

Since the first time I've signed on the DVC Board, Dianeschlicht has always been a helpful source of information to me. But.... the sponge they give you are horrible! It doesn't soak up hardly anything. Maybe they have changed it since we last went ;)

No offense Diane :)

Thanks Everyone!

I'm neurotic - I don't like borrowed sponges...it really should have been 1st on my list (along with the lysol)

Shipping charges are a non issue. I work for a company that ships thousands of pounds a day. We get VERY good rates, and I get the shipping supplies for nothing.

How far away is Publix? I've been to Albertson's but wasn't overly impressed. We will have a car, but my DH and his aunt will be using it our 1st night to go to church (and he does not grocery shop - not at home and certainly not on vacation), they'll be back just in time for dinner reservations (and then Illuminations cruise!)

I need to have things available for Sunday AM. Will I be able to get milk and juice easily at the resort?

I'll probably just drag a box home and go through my pantry..... :rolleyes1

The sponges you get are new, but they are foamy more so and not spongy...

Publix is not that far away. Someone who's been there more than once can probably tell you. Goodings is very close, but pretty expensive.

Every time we have been the sponge is new in it's original wrapping. There is a WinnDixie about 1 1/2 miles from DTD. Take a left at the Crossroads as you leave the hotel plaza blvd and go about 3/4 mile. It is on the right. Publix is behind the outlet shopping center on the other side of the highway. Go right at the end of hotel plaza blvd. Stay to the left and take the first left after you go under route 4. Follow it around just past the entrance to the outlets and take a right - it will be straight ahead just a short way down that road. Both are good sources for the fresh things you may want to get. I prefer Walmart if I am going to be doing a lot of shopping for both good prices and short lines at the registers. Hope you have a great trip.

You will be able to get Milk and Juice ...no problem. If you go to the Disney website...in the DVC members only section, you will find a grocery list and prices for each resort, they have everything you need to pick up **(besides the shipped items you will be sending)...I think the prices aren't horrible considering you do not have to shop. :goodvibes Have a great trip
