Hi guys
Just wondered if anyone had good suggestions for a book for the plane. I'm not a thriller/war/crime sort of girl, I like a good drama, romance, life story. Just wondered what you would all be reading this summer and I might get some inspiration. Last book that I truly loved when I read was "The Lovely Bones" and I would highly recommend it. Get posting and thanks, :grouphug:

Hi Claire

I always find Lesley Pearse's books to be a good read. I have just finished reading a book called My Best Friend's Girl which was fantastic but it had me in tears so maybe a good supply of tissues would be handy too ;)

I also like Catherine Alliott, Sophie Kinsella (the Shopaholic series of books), Jill Mansell and Chris Manby. All good chick lit writers.

I would agree with Joh and I also love Cecelia Ahern - real feel good books but I always need tissues by the end!

I agree completely I have just finished 'If you could see me now' it was a really lovely 'feel good' book and yes I shed a tear or two as well :thumbsup2

THE TIME TRAVELLER'S WIFE is one of the best books I have read in a long time.

Ive heard lots of good things about The Nanny Diaries. Thats what I'll be taking this year.

I have just had My Sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult reccomended to me, I have just started reading it and so far I cant put it down :thumbsup2

Hi Claire

Have you read Marian Keyes latest - Anyone Out There, it is a great read, and had me reaching for the tissues big time, to the point where DH got quite concerned. If you are really into reading and visit a bookstore in Orlando se if you can get a copy of And I Dont Want to Live this Life by Deborah Spungen, I bought this years ago and it fell apart I read it so many time, its out of print over here, but I got a new copy in Orlando, it is the stoey of Nancy Spungens life but written by her mother, it is heartbreaking, best book I ever read, and I have read a few ....

I agree - it's an excellent book and so terribly sad.

I'll agree with Jules. Marian Keyes is excellent, all the books.
My personal favourites are Colin Bateman, Carl Hiassen and christopher brookmyre, they're funny thrillers really. If you ever saw 'Murphys Law' THats a colin bateman

Hi :sunny:

I read "The Island" by Victoria Hislop on holiday in Mexico and loved it. I was in the supermarket yesterday looking at books and they had it for £3.97, a lady picked it up and i couldn't resist telling her it was great, so she bought it- i hope she likes it now ;)

If you've not read it already i always recommend "The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood". It's a few years old now and they did make it into a terrible film with Sandra Bullock in but is my all time favorite read.

Florida sun- My sisters keeper is one of the best books i have ever read, you won't be able to put it down in the end- i've just finished The Pack by the same author- not as good but still an interesting story.

:goodvibes

I like Janet Evanovich. She has written several 'series' books. The ones I really like are about a female bounty hunter called Stephanie Plum. In the books there are lots of disfunctional characters and some romance as well. First in the series is One for the Money. These books are very easy to read and you could probably get through about 1 or 2 on the plane.

Thankyou very much, I will be compling a must read list to take with me. Joh, I love the Sophie Kinsella series too, so funny and somehow it always touches a nerve with me :teeth: I too like Marion Keyes, will have a look for a new one, so many good suggestions here,

I justed checked and 'Shopaholic and Baby' isn't out til February :confused3 Oh well maybe good for your next trip!

Oh wow, "Shopoholic and Baby" :cheer2: Now that is gonna be hysterical. Am adding yours to my list Verity, thanks
