I am planning on taking a few snacks along(individual wrapped breakfast coffee cake ) with me & some diet pepsi 24 oz bottles & maybe some water.
What needs to be carried on & what can I pack safely,
Would the soda explode if it was in the checked luggage?
Last year I put all the beverages in my carry on, but that was for only 5 days. this year it will be 10. I just don't want to go that long without my DP fix.

I definitely would not put soda in my checked baggage! It absolutely may explode - if not from pressurization, perhaps from extreme temperature (COLD;o). Have you considered ordering from one of the local grocery stores and having what you need delivered to your hotel? I've never done it, but - have seen posts about it somewhere on this forum. I think there is a $10 delivery charge - which, is about what you would spend (if not more, washing all of your clothes soaked with Dr. P if they exploded on ya;o) I've also read that some of the limo services will stop at a grocery store on the way to your hotel so you can pick up some stuff. I think you can pre-order stuff from Albertson's and they will have it ready to go & waiting for you when you arrive at the store - so you just have to pay & go (at no extra service charge). And - obviously - if you are getting a rental car, you can buy what you need at a local grocery store.

I know somebody recommended not packing any food items in your checked bags because it tends to set off the TSA sensors and target your bag for an inspection. And - even worse - a friend told me she put a bag of coffee beans in her checked bag and TSA inspected her bag after she checked it in and the bag of coffee had been opened and was spilled all over her suitcase. So much for her Kona coffee from Hawaii:o(
