We are officially 7 days & 17 hours away from cruise day!!!! This is me & my husband's second cruise (first was Carnival) and my kiddos first cruise (age 5). It has been 6 years since I last cruised and I want to make sure I don't forget anything important.

We sail (Positive Covid PCR Test permitting) on Feb 28th (Magic Cruise Ship out of Miami).

  • What are some "Must-Have" items?
  • What are some "Don't Pack" items?

I welcome all suggestions!! 😁🥳🛳

May I suggest only that you dont over pack. I went to WDW for 11 years in a row. Each trip I packed less and less until I was done to a large purse and a carry on. Now that was just for me but you get the idea. It really is amazing what we think we need that we can do without for one week. I buy a brand new pack of underwear already store packed (6pr) and thrown that in. Same with socks. During the following year I refer to many of my clothes, t shirts, shorts etc as "my Disney clothes" Have a wonderful trip!

Must Pack: Something warm to wear on deck for Heroes Unite--long pants, socks, hoodie. Even then your kids might steal your hoodie to use as a blanket. Hair ties/clips if anyone has hair longer than chin length--it gets windy on deck and sometimes on CC. Lanyards if opening the door is important to your kids--this is a BIG deal in my family.

Nice to have: Magnetic hooks for the door. We hung our masks and lanyards on the back of the door so it was easy to grab on the way out of the stateroom. A beach bag for CC to store goggles, sunscreen, water bottle, sunglasses, a pouch for KTTW and licenses--we brought a tiny set of beach toys too. Meds that your family may need--allergy, motion sickness, pain relief, etc. The shops on board are only open select hours.

Don't pack: Too much--you will be able to wear bottoms twice because you will not be wearing them for full days on CC days. Most people wore their Marvel clothes all day and didn't change for dinner. There was a range of dressiness onboard, but it tended to more casual on our cruise (1/31-2/5).

If you have Marvel swag, especially a costume for the kiddo, throw that in! Lots of guests dress up on MDAS, though it's definitely not necessary, and you can purchase some items in the shops.

+1 if your kid loves Marvel and has a costume, bring it!

Definitely any OTC stuff you like to have (pain relievers, sleep aids, dramamine, bandaids, whatever) since the onboard shops are a) not open all the time, as mentioned and b) have an extremely limited selection.

And yeah, it's very easy to overpack. I probably brought 3x too much stuff on our last cruise so am already trying to slim down for next time. I forgot how much you can rewear if you spend half the day in a swimsuit, plus it's not like you're ever really getting sweaty unless you do an excursion (vs packing for the parks, for instance). Definitely two swimsuits though so you can let one dry while you wear the other one. And something to pack your damp swimsuits in if you end up swimming on the last full day. On our last cruise (Western Caribbean) I packed a whole bunch of long pants/long sleeved shirts 'just in case' it got cold (since it was February) and we wore almost none of it so lesson learned.

Pretty casual right now so would not worry about formal wear. Save your space and take a dress or skirt maybe. Formal night has more people in shorts then formals during Covid.

Great tips, I definitely tend to overall. Love the idea of buying new underwear & socks. I did that for hygiene items, but I really like buying it new. Thank you!!

I bought a lot of what you suggested!! Thanks for the weather insight...we have been debating how to dress. We're flying in from Ohio where it's snowing right now, so I'm going to have us all wear thick hoodies and long sleeve shirts so we don't have to pack our big winter coats.

I didn't buy beach toys or door magnets, so I'll get some today!!

Yes, I've been hearing this. He is planning on wearing his Black Panther costume that he wore for Halloween. He is super excited!! Even me & my husband are considering dressing up too!!

We flew in from Cleveland at the end of January. This was exactly what we wore to travel down.

I found our sand toys at Ollies for $4.
