What to I need to take extra to an AKV standard studio

This will be our first visit to our home resort, it's 4 of us, DH, DD7,DS13 and I. We are taking extra pillows as we are driving.

My question was if we needed anything else extra beside the extra pillows that we are already taking for the road.

There are extra pillows in the closet, and guest services will deliver more if needed. As far as what else you might need, that depends upon your expectations. In a studio you only get plastic utensils and paper plates - not a problem if you eat out for every meal, but if you want to prepare and eat meals in the room, you might want to bring silverware. Also, the room only has a microwave, so don't expect a complete kitchen set.

Beyond that, the room will have an iron and board, hair dryer... What else do you think you might need?

Zip lock bags in various sizes (snack to gallon), chip bag clips and some small plastic bowls with lids that easily sub for cereal bowls or storing leftovers.

And most of all a little for luck and have a great trip!

Don't bring them, but I recommend grabbing some extra towels from the pool to shove in the bottom corners of the bed to protect your knees/shins. The AKV furniture is bulky & I still have a bruise from hitting that bed corner. After the third time, someone did it--we stuffed towels for padding into the corners. Problem solved!!

Binoculars are cool to have for a closer view! Have fun!

So how big is the freezer in the fridge in an AKV Studio? Will my breakfast sausage sammies fit???

It's a small flat freezer. I'm not sure how big a package you are talking about, but it's the width of the fridge but not very tall. I could barely fit my beer bottle in there (laying down) when I wanted to chill it quickly.

We find there isn't enough beer in the fridge and bring some of our own

Thanks, you know that the DH would not leave home with out them! I might take some wine myself. We are also taking a cooler for the road , so we will have the extra space for it.

I like to bring a hanging shoe pocket organizer to hang in the bathroom vanity area to organize toiletries in studios. This is an idea borrowed from the cruise line where it really comes in handy in small spaces. And I have some suction cups for the bath tile to help hang extra towels and swim suits when the clothesline gets too overloaded.

We have an Owner's Locker, so we have lots of extra ponchos, light up bracelets, fans, misters, and on and on and on.

We also pack a small knife when staying in a studio (checked luggage when flying). There are no sharp knives and trying to cut those limes with a plastic one doesn't work very well.

They are available most anywhere in Disney. The even have them at the DVC resort stores.

Save yourself a bunch of money and buy the mister fans at Walmart. I just bought each of my DD's one and they were only $7 each which for both of them is cheaper than just one at Disney.

Also great thread, it's been so long since I've stayed in a studio that I wasn't even thinking that there isn't regular silverware and bowls in the rooms. I'm staying in a studio this year and I must remember to pack that kind of stuff....

Quick questions, not sure if anyone knows the answer...I've been searching for over an hour now and can't find my answer...

Because I'm staying in a studio there won't be a washer/dryer and i'm there for 2 weeks so i'm going to have to do laundry. Where would the DVC laundry be at Jambo House? I know I saw there is a coin-op by the pool, but for DVC we get to use the laundry for free and I want to say when I stayed last year I thought I saw a laundry on the 5th floor and you needed to use your card to enter...I had a 1 bedroom so I never checked it out. Can someone confirm where the laundry for DVC is and that it's free for us?
