What to get neighbor for birthday gift?

We are invited to a birthday party for our neighbor on Friday and I have no idea what to get the guy. We don't know them very well, we just moved in 10 months ago and the only thing that I know he is into is mountain biking. I don't want to get him a gift card somewhere because then he will know how much we spent. Any ideas on what to get someone that you don't really know?

REI sells a bunch of Mountain bike tools- Ranging in $ from $6-100. My mountain biking son loves his Pedro Toothbrush-- and he uses a wrench kit but I don't know what kind.

Well, I think the main question here is "Do you want to stay friends with your neighbor"?

If the answer is no, then get him some lime green biking shorts or some jock icth cream or something along those lines. Tell him you knew he liked mountain biking and thought he could use those. That would cure your neighbor problem. Oh, the places you could go with this.

Seriously though, I was going to suggest a gift card, since he could then pick something out for himself, since you are not sure of his likes and dislikes, but you don't want that. Does he like to work in the yard or on his car? You could grab something inexpensive related to that. The bottle of wine that AprilShowers suggested is always good or a nice bottle of cognac or brandy.
