What to expect the week after Easter...

Hi all. We'll be arriving in Olando the Tuesday after Easter this year (March 29-April 5). We probably will hit our first park on Wednesday. I'm just curious to know what I can expect for crouds at the parks from anyone who has been there in the past during the week after Easter.

I read in the Unofficial guide that he rates those days (Wed Mar 30-Mon Apr 4) 3s and 4s on his croud level scale (1-10 w/10 being the most busy--which is what he gives Easter Sunday). So, for those of you who have been there in the past during that week, do you agree with that assessment? To give you another point of referrence, he rates the last ten days in September all 2s, which is when I was there in '98.

Thanks in advance!

I'm curious about this too! I'll be there for one week starting the weekend after Easter, and I'd love to have an idea of what sort of crowds to expect.

Hmmm...not sure i'd agree based on the several years we went the week after Easter.... it was very crowded.

However, it WAS do-able. We planned alot, arrived early, stayed late and also used fastpass everywhere.
Always had the best time regardless and felt we did everything, despite the crowds!

I will be eager to hear other's experiences too so please let us know YOUR thoughts!

:)

We are going then and it supposed to be very busy..I dont understand those low numbers for that week

I don't understand those low numbers either. Yet another reason for not caring for the unofficial guide. Never liked it. We've been twice during the time period, Easter Sunday and the week after Easter. Both weeks were very busy. Easter week has always been considered a very busy week in Disney. This has been for years. We go often so this would never keep me away if my schedule was such that Easter week was good for my family (as it has been twice so far). As rockin rep said it is doable, but I have to say again, just as both Diane v and rockin rep already said, I really can't understand why anyone would say it's not a busy time.

Have a Great Vacation!

I think April 4-5 might be ok but up to then its going to be hang onto your hat real busy!

I think the advice in the Unofficial Guide is predicated on most school spring breaks occuring BEFORE or DURING Easter week. This year, our spring break (Atlanta area) is the week AFTER Easter. Our school district appears to set spring break strictly by calendar date, regardless of when Easter falls.
I expect to see half of Atlanta at WDW and on our cruise that week...

I was looking for flights to Orlando yesterday for a business trip March 31 to April 1. The flights returning on April 1 (Friday) are booked solid. So alot of people are probably going home that day. March 30 to March 31 looked better.

I'm from the Atlanta area and we will be at WDW for spring beak, too.

Just a heads up, I waited to book my PSs this morning after the April hours came out and I didn't get my first pick of time on any of them except one!

FYI - Florida schools are out that week too... so there will be more locals than usual enjoying the parks...

We're going Easter Week also. I questioned the low crowd estimations in the Unoff. Gd., so I emailed Len from UG. He stood by their predictions. Said Easter weekend was VERY crowded and Easter Monday also, but the crowds went down as the week went on. Hmmm. We're arriving on Monday night (spending the previous few days visiting family in FL and doing other non-DIS stuff). We plan on being in the parks Tues-Fri. We'll plan for big crowds, go early, use fastpass, take an afternoon break, etc. I think it will be crowded, but it sure would be nice if it wasn't!!

My big worry is heading for home on Saturday. EVERYONE is going to be on I-95 or I75. It will be heck getting out of Florida!! I'd like to find a "backroads" route.

I hear you! Regardless of the week, I 75 is like a moving parking lot! Ugh.

I really wouldn't worry about Easter week being any worse than any other week in march or april.

Think about it - while definitely still crowded, Easter week is more manageable since school systems started choosing other times for break, making it separate from Easter - making it Spring Break and not Easter break.
