Hi! This question may be better suited for the DCL board..but I really like the people on this board..so i thought i would post it here and see what ya'll had to say..so thanks in advance.
We are thinking of booking a Disney Cruise for next December. (early) We found a great price for booking early. Has anyone here done this with young kids, dd will be 4.5 at the time of cruise. Did your kids like it alot? Or would you reccomend doing a cheaper cruise like RCCL and then a trip to Disney that same year? Doing the parks and all that?
Which makes me think of another ?...do you vacation on your own with hubby/wife/significant other alone w/out kids sometimes? If so, how old were your kids the first time you went..and how did they handle it? :confused3 ;)

Any suggestions welcome! :listen:
THanks as usual!! :wizard:

We've vacationed without our 2 DS's for the last 4 years on a trip for our Anniversary. The kids stay in the neighboring state 500 miles away with grandparents, aunts, uncles, & cousin, and have a ball being spoiled rotten. We started when they were 3 & 6. The year before that, we sent just my 5 year old, but kept the 2 year old with us because we didn't feel he was old enough to be without us for that long yet (they spent 2 weeks away). We've alternated between DL & WDW for our anniversary trips, and don't feel bad leaving the kids because as you can see in my signature, the kids also had at least 2 trips with us there each year. They know we're at Disney on our own, and they've never expressed any desire to go with us. The've already done Disney that year, and they'd rather go play with other relatives!

What kind of deal did you find? I would LOVE to do a cruise

We've taken 3 DCL cruises and loved them all. 1st was just DH and myself, pre-kids, 2nd was when DS was almost 4 and the 3rd DS was 5 1/2 and DD turned 1 (this was in April). Both kids loved them, even the baby. DS is constantly asking when we can do it again and DD still recognizes the Magic when she sees a pic of it. We will wait until she is potty-trained though until our next one. One word of caution....a Disney cruise will spoil you ;) We probably won't ever go on another cruise line now. (We've also sailed on Royal Carribean & Carnnival before Disney)

DH & I have gone away several times for long weekend trips by ourselves. We try to do it atleast once a year. Since the kids get to stay with their grandparents who spoil them rotten, they love it. We started when they were both babies so I guess they are used to it too. Both those trips were necessities, I don't think I would have chosen to go that young on my own. I think the kids handled it better than I did the first few times, but it really depends on your children. Mine are both very adventerous and outgoing.
