What to do???

I've been racking my brain trying to come up with some solutions for a potential vacation crisis & lack of available points. I was thinking some of you veterans may have some ideas. My wife & I planned on taking our 2 boys & also treating her parents & sister & brother-in-law to a family vacation for 8 nights this October. We planned on using our DVC points for the room{s}. The main problem is, we currently have only 50-60 points left since we borrowed last year. Our use year is August, so our additional 200 yearly points won't be available until then. Obviously, I'm worried that there won't be Oct availability come August in the resort{s} her parents would like to stay{Beach Club Villas & Wilderness Lodge Villas}. So I thought that we could buy someone else's points here on the Disboards & have them transferred to our account for our trip this year. That would be a good chunk of change, so I figured once our 200 points hit our account in Aug, I could sell those & transfer those to the buyer's account. Then we'd have the spending money we'd need for our trip. However, after doing some reading here, it looks like you have umlimited transfers of points one way{in or out}. But you cannot transfer points in both directions in the same year. Assuming this is true, my plan falls through.

Does anyone have any creative ideas on how I can swing this? I thought about putting the trip off until Jan '06, but my mother-in-law really likes the pools & by that time of year, it's a risk. She loves the Beach Club & my father-in-law loves the Lodge, so we'd really like to stay there if at all possible. Aside from adding on points to our DVC contract{which just came to mind}, does anyone have any brainstorming ideas out there for me?

you don't have to wait until the points are in your account. As long as the reservation is after your use year month. If you will be getting points this August and you want to go in October, you only have to wait for your 7/11 month window. If one is your home resort then call and reserve the room now.

Istolemykidspins wife here. Thanks for the information. I just called and booked the whole week that we wanted . I am jumping for joy. Now we don't have to stress about trying to get the room in August for October.
