We're getting off the Disney Magic by 9:00 am and our flight isn't till 3:00 pm. We don't plan on going anywhere else but the airport. So can we check in at 10:00 am and check our luggage at this time or is it too early? Would they lose our luggage? If we can't check in that early, what do we do?

By the time you get to the airport and get unladed, it's going to be closer to 11:00 if you're the last ones off the ship. So take you time getting off.

You can check your bags four hours prior to your flight. So take your time getting to the airport, and get in line at the ticket counter, by the time you actually get to check in you should be fine.

By that time you should be getting hungry for lunch, there's a ton of restaurants in the airport, have a liesurely lunch, do a little shopping, and then about an hour before you flight head to security then to your gate.

Thanks Anne, very helpful about the 4 hr. checkin time. It doesn't sound so bad.

One year ago. We actually debarked the Wonder around 8:00. Were at the ariport at 9:00 and our flight was not until 3:00 and there was no way that any of us felt like sitting around the airport for 6 hours. I reserved a dayroom at that hotel inside the terminal (Hyatt?). It was $75 and it was money well spent. All four of us crashed, then woke up, had lunch and crashed again. I would definitely do it again.

Does this depend on the airline or airport? I had a flight to Brussels at 7:30 pm and went to JFK around noon and checked my luggage and then went into the city. Had no problems and they didn't lose anything!

How long ago? And did you actually check it into the airline or the bag check service at JFK?

You can always check with your airline and ask to fly standby. We did this in Seattle last year after getting off a cruise and being at the airport before 9AM and our flight out was not till 4. We got put on a straight through flight leaving just after 10am with absolutely no change fees. Only drawback was that we were not seated together, but it sure beat sitting around the airport for 7 hours.

I thought about the standby idea and when I asked Delta, they said there would be a 25.00 fee. I will definitely check into this when we get to the airport, thanks for reminding me.
