DD is thinking she might need to bring her laptop to POR since we'll be there 15 nights and she'll be applying for some jobs online. I know a laptop won't fit in the safe. Any ideas other than hiding it in between clothes?

They make laptop locks, or the front desks may still have a safe that it can be used for.

I put it in my suitcase and zip it up. In 30 years of hotel stays, in the US and abroad, I've never had anyone open my suitcase and rummage through it.
I have. Now I lock my suitcase if there's anything valuable.

Another trip when I was young and gameboys were a thing someone rummaged my brother's bag and stole games out of it.

Suitcase lock has been my route as well. Never had an issue at Disney. If you want additional security, you can also purchase a long bike lock and loop it around the hanging clothes rod or another such object. This would work well at the Values and Moderates given their closet area set up (and may at the Deluxes as well). It would be a total of about $15-20 (reusable, of course). I believe the Deluxe Resorts also offer safe deposit box services at the front desk for items that won't fit in the in-room safe. Not sure on any fees there.

I'm not sure about POR but my laptop fits in the safes at Poly. It's a medium/large sized laptop.

But like others I just burry it and my ipad deep in my suitcase and don't think much of it.

I lock mine in my medium suitcase and put the suitcase up on top of the clothes rack. If someone is going to steal it, they are going to have to work for it a little. pirate:

I don't bother locking mine up if it doesn't fit in the safe. It is FDE'd and if it is taken they aren't getting anything of value off of it. I just put it back in it's bag and go about my day.

I travel with either my Surface Pro or a 14" small form factor laptop so it does usually fit just about everywhere.

I use a cable lock. I have to take my laptop for work. Yes, I work while on vacation. It is easier for me to close out issues for 30 minutes in the morning than getting a call in the middle of a line and having to leave a park to go work. Yes, it happened before for 3 hours. DD and I had to leave the park, I had to get on a conference call to solve an issue that I could have done in 15 minutes in my sleep. Instead, some Execs wanted to puff their chests instead of solving the problem. My manager Same-Day aired my laptop to me that day. Cost about $300 but no more issues after that.

The safe at Port Orleans is a micro minnie safe....too tiny for much of anything. We also have our computer backed up and encrypted so we don't worry too much but we also tend to put it in our suitcase. Not a whole lot you can do. By the way, good luck to your daughter on her job search..hope she gets what she's looking for!:-):-)

I fit my large tablet and my zoom camera lens (as well as smaller stuff) in the safe at POR with no problem

Lock it in your suitcase. And leave an open box of tampons on top of it. Personal hygiene items make people uncomfortable, so they won't touch it. We do this with a laptop, and camera when we aren't taking it to the park for the day. Even traveling abroad.
In two decades our suitcase has never been touched.

I''ve left mine right out on the table and it is always there when we return. I don't think the cleaning crew want to lose their jobs over a laptop. But I have also put the laptop in a drawer or a suitcase, just to be safe. ;)

We've always left ours in the room and not had a problem, but if you are r-e-a-l-l-y worried about leaving it in the room every resort has safety deposit boxes (like the bank) behind the front desk that you can use.

We have been able to fit a 15" laptop and Mac Air 11" together, along with wallets and other small electronics, in most of the safes at WDW and Universal. Most of these safes are vertical, so you have to stand it up. I think last summer there was an old safe at POFQ that used a key instead of keypad or CC. However, we didn't have the key anyway.
