A co-worker is considering going back to WDW with her fam. Her main concern is dragging around and keeping her daughter's insulin chilled all day at the parks. Does anyone know if she went to the medic buildings if they would hold onto it for the day and allow her to use it when she needed her shots?

Thanks

I think she can, but if you'll post this question on the DisAbilities board you'll get some great info, I'm sure!

Thanks, campingcorgi, for pointing the OP toward disABILITIES (follow the link in my signature to get there).
The easy answer is that First Aid in any of the parks will store insulin. They also have extra supplies and needle disposal boxes.
There are people with diabetes who are regular readers/posters of disABILITIES and they are always willing to share their great hints and tips.

We have been to WDW many times. My son is also insulin dependant. We take a small insulated bag just big enough fora cold pack and his insulin. In the top we keep his meter. This has worked well. It is a way of life so you adapt. We havent found this a problem and I dont like anyone having accsess to his supplies other than him.. Hope this helps!!

The first aid station will keep the insuline for the guests.

One thing you have to be aware of is the lack of food at early entry. Three years ago when we were there my eldest had a very low BS. We carried juice and gave it to him but we were back by the Jungle Cruise. There were no food carts or stands open in Adventure land , Liberty Square or Fantasy land. I was starting to panic but found a lovely CM at a store that was about to open who just gave me some candy and refused payment. It took me quite a while to get him something and get it back to him(waiting at the Jungle Cruise). I should have thought and headed to the entrance but went where there were stands close by and just kept looking. Between the heat and the excitement he got to pre-seizure state very quickly. He is very well controlled , plays soccer wrestles etc. and still was caught by suprise by the low.

I keep mine a small insulated pack in my purse or backpack along with meter, lancets and syringes. Everything I need.
Also ALWAYS carry some type of emergency food with you. You never know when you will need it. Castmembers are really good about helping but you are better off being able to handle it immediately yourself.
