Maybe someone can help me. I have a Disney Store gift card, that I had gotten when I signed up for my Visa. What I was planning on doing is going to the Disney Store and getting Disney Dollars to use on the cruise (towards my ship board account) But the store that is closest to me is over 1 hour away and a friend was just at the store the other day and she asked about the dollars and they said they do not always have them. I am wondering if anyone knows if I can get them over the phone somewhere or if you have any ideas what I can use the card on. I really won't use it to purchase anything at the store, this will be my first cruise for me and my son, and he is 11 yrs old and really not into Disney character stuff, but we are really looking forward to going on the cruise. Any ideas on how to get my $'s worth will be greatly appreciated!!! I am looking for the best way to get $ to put on my shipboard account, for excursions, bingo or whatever we would like to do. Thanks for your input ahead of time.

p.s. thanks to everyone who posts pictures, I love looking at them.

Disney Store Gift Cards can be used to purchase Disney Dollars...but the problem right now is availability. Disney is revamping the design on the DD and the new ones won't be out for awhile yet. Many stores are completely sold out of the current design.

You can purchase DD from Disneyland via phone....the number is 714-781-4043, but I was informed by a Disney Store CM that when you purchase from Disneyland you may get "used" Disney Dollars. Disney typically only sells "new" DD but not always. Only other problem with purchasing at the above number is that Disneyland will not accept a Disney Store Gift Card as payment.

I also ran into the problem that the Disney Stores (in my area at least) would not - could not ship them through the mail.

I too went to my Disney store in Chicago and was told they would not have Disney Dollars in until May. They told me to call reservations and I could mail order them. I called reservations and they transfered me to the mail order department. You then need to either fax or email a request. The turn around time is 2 - 4 weeks with a $3 delivery charge. I'm going to wait until May(it's only 5 weeks away :goodvibes )

Good Luck

The best way to get "free" money to spend on your cruise is to get a Disney Visa from Bank One and charge your cruise on it. You earn reward dollars and they have a program for 6 months 0% financing.

I also used my Disney Visa to charge big ticket items for which I was being reimbursed (dental surgery reimbursed by health care). I got the rewards then paid off the charge.

I ended up with $180 to put toward my on-ship account.

We just purchased a car and I put the deposit for it on my Disney Visa Card....earned some nice reward dollars!!!

Good idea, but the gift card that was given out with that promotion is only valid at the Disney Stores, WDW will not honor it.

Your best bet is to find some kind sole who would give you cash for the card a most of the Disney Stores do not have Disney Dollars at the moment.

I do have a Disney Visa and I am using it every chance I get. But I always I make sure I pay it off at the end of every month so I do not have to worry about those pesky interest!!! The other day my husband needed something for his truck and said how should I pay for this, and I said here you go, he just laughs, ( he will not be going on the cruise with us, he is not a traveler at all) . My sis-in-law that will be going on the cruise has a daughter in college so she just paid a semester of tuition on her card, (when bill came than paid it) so she is beating me in total of reward points so far. Did I mention that I charge payments for our cruise each month too.

Oh yeah another question, the lanyards I hear everyone talking about for your kttw cards can you get those at a Disney Store? I can use that gift card for things like that if I need to be.

i don't have the email anymore; but I think a recent copy of allearsnet newsletter had a tip that you can purchase Disney dollars over the phone at the Disney Store will ship them directly to you -- i'm going to try that route myself soon
