My husband has a tee time on our 2nd day in WDW. That means I have 5 hours alone for just some Mommy time with DD8. She is NOT at all into the princesses so Bippity Bopity would be out for us. She loves tea, but from what I have found the grand floridian is no longer doing that. ANy ideas of something special she and I can do together. I havent been to the World in 15years and I am sure there is so much more to do now!!

HELP!! We leave in 14 days!!

If you don't want to go to the parks without DH, you could shop at DTD. My DD8 enjoyed the Ghirardelli ice cream sundaes, the Lego store, lunch at Rainforest cafe. I gave her own spending money and when she was out of money, she was done shopping.

We have also gone to various resorts, AKL is our favorite. You can watch animals in the Savannah, there are many CMs around to teach about the animals and their behavior. AKL also has various activities during the daytime such as african drumming class, pelican feeding and crafts free of charge.

We also enjoy the Boardwalk area. Rent a surrey bike and go around once (or twice) and see the resorts. You can get a hair wrap, if your DD would like that.

If you plan to go to the parks that day, pick an area your DH wouldn't care for. Tour the World showcase and spend more time at each country and stop by the KidCot stations. CMs from each country are always happy to tell you about their culture and languages.

I hope this helps.

I 2nd the idea of shopping at Downtown Disney. Plan on giving her a spending limit and let her choose a few souveniers. You can literally get lost in the World Of Disney Store there. I think an 8 year old would love that. There are also some fun places for lunch and dessert. Don't forget to check out Goofy's Candy Company. There is also a movie theater at DTD. If you need some time to rest your feet, you might check out a kids movie.

What time is his tee time? I think a Cirque Du Soliel (or however you spell it) matinee would be great fun. In addition to the shopping, you could also do mini golf or check out some of the resorts. I think the gingerbread houses may be down by then though.

My DD8 isn't into the princesses or the BBB either, but she does enjoy playing with the Legos in DtD and also playing in the fountains there (over near Earl of Sandwich). Truth is I think she will enjoy anything ya'll do. If she is anything like mine, just knowing you are there and focused on her will make it a special day.

Those all sound like fun ideas! I like the original Grand Floridian tea the best, though. My DD9 and I did this 2 years ago when the guys went to DisneyQuest. I was concerned that it might be too stuffy, but it was such fun! The server was very gracious and slipped in enough silliness to keep it light, like a real tea party, but fun. My DD is pretty tomboyish, but she enjoyed herself and it is a special memory.

You have a spectacular view of the castle through all of the windows. I had some type of sampler platter and she had the Mrs. Pott's Tea (chocolate milk.) We each had our own fancy teapot and place setting. It was served in courses, from tiny sandwiches to elegant desserts, and we left stuffed! I think it was less than $30 total. I believe they serve tea between 11-2 or so; reservations are a must. Can you tell I want to go again?

If you are not staying at a Monorail Resort, you could tour the different resorts and perhaps have lunch at one while riding the monorail. There is a movie theater, DTD is a good place. There is usually something happening during the day at each resort. If she likes to get a massage, you can book something like that with her.

I have the similar situation with my upcoming trip. You can always visit a park for part of the day. DH will be playing golf (He hopes ;) ) and I have two boys with me 4 and just about 7. I plan on taking them to EPCOT for to Test track, Nemo ride, Imagination, a show and the Land. They like all of these rides and attractions and meet the height requirements. Then we plan on heading back to the hotel to hang out there for a while until DH is finished. We've been to WDW twice now and he has seen all of this with the kids so he won't miss too much.

They do still do tea at GF... We just had tea last week on Christmas Day. If I were you I would do that. Our family absolutely loves tea and do tea parties at home quite often so we make it a point to have tea at GF every trip. Have fun with a mom and daughter day!

My 7yo DD loves when we have mommy and her time alone!! This past trip we did DTD by ourselves and she loved that!!! We had fun browsing something that DH cannot do for a long time!!:goodvibes

Another time DH and DS stayed back to watch the super bowl and DD and I did the MK by ourselves. It was such fun to be with just her and of course we did lots more shopping than we normally would do if DH and DS were with us!!!!

I love the tea idea. I know the GF is still doing them. But I think it is just in the afternoon. Is his tee time in the morning or afternoon? I would like to do the tea with DD and a group of women and their girls who we will be traveling with over T-week next year. It sounds fun and something everyone would enjoy. :)

Does she like to mini-golf? That might be fun. If the weather is nice the water park would also be a blast. My DD LOVES the water parks!!!

I'm sure anything the two of you do together she'll love. My DD loves when we have mommy/daughter time alone!!!

Dd (6.5yo) did one of the Kid's Pirate Cruises when were there in early December. Ours was at POR. It was 2hrs long and the kids (about 10 w/ two CMs) went out on a pontoon boat down the Sassagoula River in search of pirate treasure. They all got pirate bandannas as well as a box lunch (uncrustables, juice box and goldfish crackers).

Dd had an incredible time. They followed clues at POFQ, OKW and Downtown Disney that led them back to PORs lobby. There they "found" the treasure chest filled w/ bags of pirate booty that each child received.

The cruise was about $30 and worth every penny. Dd was BEAMING over it and can't wait to do it again when we go back for our mom and me trip in July.

They do cruises on different days at POR, CBR and GF. I thought there were four different ones, but I can't remember the fourth resort.

Oh I forgot to say that the times that were posted for GF Tea Room was 2 pm to 6 pm. Our tea time was at 2 pm and works out nicely as a nice light late lunch especially if you have a TS dinner planned for later in the evening.

So you and DD can have tea time while Dad has his tee time!! :flower3:
