Does anyone know of a GOOD waterproof wallet (or whatever) for carrying $, credit cards, & room keys without them getting wet? Would like something like this for water parks/pools so I can go in water and not worry about valuables.

Last swim suit I had had a pouch built into the pocket which was waterproof but it leaked after only opening & closing the thing just a few times??? :confused3

Any suggestions? I guess I'm looking for any ideas as to where or what to keep valuables in while swimming?

I had something that went around my neck, it was cylinder shape (so it could only hold cash and coins, no credit cards) and it had a screw top. You could go right into the water with it. I think I got it at Typhoon Lagoon, but I've seen them all around. The water parks have lockers and I would store my valuables there. :sunny: :paw: :sunny:

I use just a cheap wallet since I always have shorts on over my swimsuit. Who cares if your cc, room key card, change, and green backs get wet? They won't melt and will be cleaner for the experiance. :goodvibes

I have tried a number products to keep that sort of stuff dry. I haven't found any I like. Some don't work, some are to bulky, and some won't hold what you need. I just gave up. And have used nothing special smimming in Mexico, Hawaii, and the DCG.

But then again I'm from Seattle an everything is always damp anyways :umbrella:

There are watersafes available at Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon and at DCL Castaway Cay which you wear around your neck. They are made of plastic and seal with a clip and gasket.

They come is 2 sizes. One can hold 4-5 cards and bit of cash, the other can hold the same plus rental car keys. I also found them in Hawaii at cheap tourist stores. I love them and tuck them inside my one-peice suit or T-shirt.

Two suggestions here...

1. You can buy an expensive waterproof holder at most sporting goods stores...I bought mine at Gander Mountain, which is nationwide I think. The holder is made of clear vinyl that rolls down and closes with velcro and has a long cord. The one I bought was about the size of a passport and cost less than $5...larger sizes were available. I use this when I go to the beach.

2. When I go swimming at the pools I just keep my room key in a small wallet and shove them into my sandals or whatever shoes I'm wearing and throw my cover-up over it. I leave the other stuff in the room safe.

Maybe the original poster did not realize that all you need is your credit-card-size-room-key. The room key will get you back into the room, and can be used to buy anything you may want at the water parks or poolside. It is your credit card and $.

Credit cards, room keys, etc., (the hard plastic cards with a magnetic stripe) will not be harmed at all by getting wet; I just tuck them securely into the lining of my suit and swim my heart out. Water will not harm the stripe at all, so long as the card itself will not absorb water. Do dry it off thoroughly before attempting to use it in a reader, though; the readers don't like water.

I carry a water wallet at water parks to keep my car key and cash dry; we stay at S/D most of the time, so I can't use my room key to make purchases. The water wallet came from a sporting-goods store; check the boating section. They come in several sizes, including those large enough to protect a cell phone. (BTW, when you carry your keys in watery situations, leave your car's clicker behind in the glove box; water will ruin it, at least for a few days while you dry it out dissassembled, and buy a new battery. Water may also mess up the ignition keys for most late-model cars, the ones that have the security chip built into the key.)

Tip when using a water wallet that has a clip on it: sew a rubber o-ring securely somewhere on the inside front of your suit. That way you will have a good place to secure the wallet so that it won't flop all over the place while you play, and you won't get scolded at water slides about the wallet, because it won't be visible.

Just an FYI, I was just at BB and TL and I couldn't use my room key at the little donut stand. I know they take it at the counter service lunch place but the donut stand & perhaps the other smaller stands, don't take your room key.

I use one of the small gasket boxes as well it hold dl ,cc,rk and $.but use Ziploc for phone and so forth on waterrides (not pool or swimming).

O.K. So we have options for $ and cards but what do you all do with your cameras ? I don't want one of us to always be sitting on a lounger with it, but I don't want to be running to the locker every time I want a picture.

Best $5.00 we spent was getting a small locker at both TL & BB. Rental is $10.00 but when you return the key you get back $5 so final cost is $5. We put our Lanyards into it that contained our room keys, $20.00 bill for emergencies where our CC couldn't be used, and a CC. We also were able to put our camera & shoes and anything we didn't want to either carry around or leave at the beach chairs into. It worked out great and gave us piece of mind that they wouldn't get lost, stollen, or misplaced/forgotten. The only things we left at the chairs was our towels and shorts or t-shirts that we wore over our suits. We went back to the locker at lunch time to get our room key (we were on the dining plan) ate lunch, took pictures, and returned to throw them back in the locker till we were ready to leave. So yes there are waterproof options but we didn't want to have anything around our necks, etc. and we still needed a place to put the camera too so this was a great option for us.

Another idea are the waterproof cases which can be picked up last minute at the waterparks and pick up one of those waterproof disposable cameras and use that at the waterparks so you won't care if it gets wet and keep them on you. I just think they would end up costing more than the $$$ spent on a locker.

You don't want to bring a serious camera to a water park: SAND is deadly on cameras (ask my DH if you don't believe me; his new $300 digital camera had to be completely replaced after he made the mistake of trying to take photos on a somewhat breezy beach.) Buy a waterproof disposable camera and mark it with a Sharpie. (Walmart often has 2 packs for $10).

For our cruise in April we sucked it up and bought the waterproof case that is made for our digital camera. It was about $150 but when I considered that I would probably want at least 1 or 2 disposable cameras per day plus the cost of developing I figured it was worth it. Plus, the pictures are much nicer with the digital.

Certainly something to consider.

I have the bigger one and really like it. I had one of those cylinder things for several years, but like the fact that I can carry my DL and charge cards. It really is waterproof.

I think I bought mine at OKW. I just wear it around my neck.
