We will be on the Magic February 8. I have rented a car from Avis to drive from the airport to the port and turn it in at the Raddision. I prefer to bring my son's car seat on the plane, to make the plane more comfortable as well as it being much more comfortable in the rental car (we will be staying in Florida for 4 days after the cruise as well, so he will need it quite often).

Is there anywhere to store it while we are on the cruise, in the terminal etc. or will I have to have it brought on the ship as luggage and store it in our cabin?

I'm sure there are many people who take this cruise with children who still require car seats. What do you do?

Any info would be appreciated!

Hi,
I had called Disney a while back and asked them if they provide storage below for car seats. They advised me if you bring one on, you would need to store it in your room. We decided to rent a seat from Avis instead of having it bouncing around the cabin all week. I also like to have Matt in a car seat on the plane, but I decided this time he will have to just stay buckled in the seat and we will make him comfy with pillows. Laurie

My son was two on our first cruise (carnival) and my daughter was just 4. We took the car seats with us and stored them in the room. Carnival had a very small room and we stored them without a problem.
For our last vacation, I bought two small Evenflo booster seats cause I wanted to use them in our rental car in St. Martin for the 2 kids. They worked great! Will be taking them on our 1/25 cruise as well.
I found that a car seat on the plane is difficult since the tray does not come down all the way. It makes it hard for them to color and stuff. Have not used car seat on a plane since the little one was 3. We just check them with our luggage.

We just cruised with our 2 kids 4 and 19 months and we brought two car seats on board with us. You can check them with a porter when you get to the port, so they can bring in on board for you and you won't have to lug it around the terminal. We stored both of them just fine in the closet, along with our large suite case that didn't fit under the bed. I'd plan on storing most of your suitcases under the bed, and using the space in the closet for the car seat. It's pretty big, and you won't have a problem storing it there. There is no additional storage on board or at the terminal for car seats, I asked!!!

Does Disney consider your carseat as one of your two pieces of luggage?

I need to know the above as well.

I don't believe so. They didn't consider the stroller as a piece of luggage.

Thanks for the quick information. I guess I will bring ours and leave it in the closet. I absolutely hate those rental ones.

What do you mean by count towards your two pieces of luggage? Is there a limit on number of suitcases? This is the first I heard of this. What exactly is the limit, per person, per stateroom etc?

I think it does count towards your 2 bags per person, since I was given only 8 luggage tags for the 4 of us. Now, that 8 included two each for my kids ages 4 and 1, and they DEFINATELY didn't need two bags each!! Now, if you plan to carry them on-board, I don't think it would count then, but if you want to check them, then yes, I think it does count.

I have the same dilemma. In order NOT to have to bring the car seat onboard, we got a really good rate for the car rental through Avis and so am keeping the car for the full week and just leaving the carseat inside (We're spending 3 days post cruise too).

we cruised a few weeks ago and also rented from Avis. Avis stored our carseat for us and we picked it up after the cruise.

Have you ever considered a portable fold up car seat? We purchased one to use on vacations when we fly (for rental cars and such) It folds up almost flat and was only $20.00! It didn't take much room in our suitcase at all and stayed out of the way the entire time. It's a "Tote n Go" by Cosco. I picked mine up at Wal-Mart.
