Okay, my partner wants to do the red eye when we visit in March which puts in Orlando at 6 am on Saturday and our first park day is Monday. Sunday is a monorail crawl day. Friday, the day we leave, is Disney Springs and Chef Art Smiths and Gideons.

BUUUTT NOOOWWW I have a whole day Saturday. We're at POP that night so it's not like the best pool or anything.

SO... We were considering going to Typhoon Lagoon. Are we crazy? We've never been, don't even know how to get there, and know next to nothing about it.

Should we do a waterpark or is there a better way to spend our day? HELP!

I think TL is a great idea for an early arrival day - just pack accordingly with a water park bag easily accessed before you leave your bags with bell services. You can enjoy the water park and if you get tired from the red eye/ time change just take a nap on a lounger for a while!

We love TL! It’s fun for families or just adults. If the weather is nice, it can get crowded…we usually get there at opening (a little before 10), get a locker, and then head for the good slides. We can do them all on a slow morning before lunch. If it’s getting crowded we enjoy the lazy river and wave pool. We have our own vehicle and usually head to Disney Springs for lunch, but you can eat there. D-Lux just tastes so good after swimming for hours. Then back for the less crowded hours before closing. The water coasters at TL are a blast! Have fun!

TL would be fun! Lots of fun slides, good QS food and loungers to rest on if you get tired. As PP mentioned, I would just pack an extra day bag you could bring with you with a change of clothes, sunscreen, etc. (they have towels at the park). They have shower facilities there, so you can shower and change and not hang out in wet clothes while you wait for your room to be ready. Personally, I would take an uber/lyft to TL - it's much easier than taking Disney transportation from Pop. Alternatively, if you don't want to spend the money on water park tickets, you could go to the pool at Pop and also ride the Skyliner over to the Boardwalk to stroll, have lunch and/or play mini golf at Fantasia golf course.

We have dinner reservations on the boardwalk that night! Plus we will hit up beaches and cream. So, we wanted something to do during the day. Though, mini golf doesn't sound half bad either! We always have a good time doing that.

We're flying from the west coast so we won''t have a car, do you think it would still be worth it to go to DS? I see it is VERY close on the maps, and we haven't been sure where to fit dluxe into our plans. Our dinner ressie is at 8 pm, so we're not in any rush to anything else.

I was looking at locker rentals. Do you think a small locker would fit a backpack and some flip flops, or should we g for the large?

Oh this is easy, you're getting in at 6am and you may not get a room until 4pm so TL is the best way to kill some time. We like water parks on arrival day. Leisurely go for some breakfast and then head to TL. If you're tired from that redeye what better way to refresh than getting wiped out by some gnarly waves followed by a few revolutions around the lazy river :sunny:

Typhoon Lagoon is an excellent choice for your free day. You may be TIRED from the flight so even if you grab a lounger or a hammock in the shade and sleep for an hour or two, that sounds like heaven to me! Plus TL has great water slides and the best wave pool in the world! It's also super close to Disney Springs so you could go there for a bit too for lunch/early dinner.

Awesome! I think this is what we'll do. It's a 5 hour flight, so we're hoping to sleep most of the time, but we know we'll be tired. We don't have dinner ressie till 8, so we should have time for a nap at the hotel too lol

We’ve used both sizes depending on how much stuff we bring. There’s a kiosk to rent right by the lockers do you can check the sizes before you pick one for the day.

Before the closure there was a bus that went from TL to DS. Not sure if that’s still around. If so, I would take that and easy in DS. Not sure I would go through much more hassle than that thou.

Agree it’s the best wave pool. And agree a nap in a lounge chair sounds wonderful after an early flight.

Typhoon Lagoon's a great half-day activity -- but half day is enough.

I say sleep in, hit the water park, then go out for a nice dinner. It's a good day: plenty of activity mixed with some rest.

I like this thought. But I think the OP is talking about going to TL on an early arrival day. So sleeping in somewhere is not an option

Unfortunately sleeping in isn't an option, we arrive to MCO at 6 am. So we're looking for a most-of-the-day activity to do until mid afternoonish when our room is ready.

We take the red-eye from the West Coast just about every year we go to WDW. We generally get in (depending on which red-eye Alaska offers) between 6:00 and 7:00am. We generally head to the resort, check our bags in (keep the day bag with us with our swim gear). Head off to breakfast to kill some time. And then hit either TL or BB (usually we opt for TL--love the wave pool, lazy river, and general vibe of the park. We change into our swim suits and rent a large locker (there are at least 4-5 of usually). We take it easy, nap in the loungers, get some sun to help reset our "internal clocks", do some slides, etc. We generally head back when our rooms are ready and shower and get ready to head to dinner at Epcot (that's usually our routine, but DS is absolutely doable for a non-park day). Then it's early to bed because we're tired and wake-up refreshed and ready to go the next day early (hopefully).

Typhoon Lagoon can be fun. Weather in March should be good.

As for transportation, AFAIK as of TL's reopening, via Disney Springs is the only way on a bus to and from Typhoon Lagoon. You'll need to take a bus from Pop to Disney Springs and then transfer to a Typhoon Lagoon bus.

Yay! So glad to hear a "first hand" experience of what we want to do. This is exactly our plan- especially breakfast! It's not a Disney vacation until someone's eaten a Mickey waffle!!!
