What do you do with all those pictures you get in friends' Christmas cards? For years I have been saving them. About 5-6 years ago, I started putting them in an album (one page per family, when that page fills up, add a second page, etc.), with the most recent ones in a big frame with lots of 'slots.' Then -- this summer, I took all the pictures out of that album and scrapbooked the pictures. I have them in my album alphabetically according to the family name. I did titles on my computer. I am anxious to get this year's pictures in it.

Does anybody else have any cool ideas for this scrapbook? I love seeing how the kids have grown over the years.

Peace,
MK

I confess...I chuck 'em. And I figure that the ones I send end up in the trash too. I like your idea, though, but since I never seem to work on my "main" scrapbooks (but I buy supplies as though I will, LOL), I shouldn't even try starting anything new.

I love the photos that family & friends send during the holidays! I bought a Hallmark silver Christmas tree photo holder that holds most of the pictures we receive. I usually leave them in the holder until the following October/November. I've been sorting through all my old photos & have decided (someday) to do a Christmas holiday sb. I think I will do it by year & of course include all the photos from each year.

I have a seperate Christmas album and each year I do about a page or two of layouts just using the Christmas photos. It is neat to look through and see how much my cousins kids have grown or all my old students that send me pictures have changed. Everyone that looks through it is really touched when they see there phoo cards have made my album.

Judith, I love your idea about the photo tree. Especially about leaving it out all year. I love to receive pictures and I keep them all. My plan is to put them in a Christmas album by year. I would love to keep them out longer so that we could enjoy them though and the photo tree would be a great way. Thanks for sharing that!

Julianne, do you do simple layouts or change from year to year? Do you have any posted anywhere? I would love to get some ideas from you. Thanks!

I do a collage of Christmas card photos in my regular album. I usually make it look like a Christmas quilt. One year I did a wreath. If you crop them you can fit quite a few on one page.

MerryPoppins, I love those ideas too! Ya'll come up with the best ideas.

mommie to angels-I wish I was that technical and could firure out how to post some layouts! I got a new dig camera and good printer to go with my scanner so that is my new year resolution. But to answer your question I just do simple Christmas layouts with them. One year I made little postage stamps with paper and Christmas stickers around the page in a border. The funny thing is I did that one about a year ago when the postage was 34 cents. One year I found a cute mailbox sticker and did the title From your house to ours. ETC..

I like the wreath idea. I think I have seen the quilt idea from a CM class does it have a poem to go with it?

My cousin actually keeps the pictures in a frame throughout her house and then, replaces the picture when the next one comes around. Does that make sense? Of course she has a 3900 square foot house so she has plenity of room to display them.

All of these ideas are so great. I just can't throw away those cute pictures! I'm about ready to put this year's pictures in my big frame and put last year's into "the album".

Happy New Year!

We actually eat off of them LOL! Shhh Don't tell my relatives.

What we do is one night we will get out some oversized paper and each of us picks and chooses pictures that we got as well as cute Christmas cards that we cut out.

Then we glue them to the paper and use that see through clear contact paper that you buy at the store and sandwhich them in between in. We cut it down to size and presto...instant place mats :)

Just a quick swipe with a washcloth and they are cleaned off and ready to go. Even dh gets into it and makes a mat. It is always fun to see who can be the most creative. My 5 year old gets a kick out of eating off of Grandma's face and this way we enjoy them for months to come.

That is such a great idea!!! Last year at my church we did something similar with old Christmas cards. Then we gave them to people at the nursing home and people who are confined to their homes. What a great idea to add pictures of familiar faces!

Julianne, I think I have used poems with a couple of mine. I have the flu right now, but when I'm feeling better I'll try to remember to look in my albums for you.

MerryPoppins, pixie dust and prayers. Hope you feel much better soon. Make sure you get plenty of rest!

Aw shucks! Thanks! :p I'm actually feeling a little better. No more fever. Now if I could just get rid of this cough maybe I'd feel like scrapping. :teeth:
