What do you do with the souvenier popcorn buckets?

I just couldn't throw them away and I certainly don't want to now that I have invested good suitcase space getting them home...so now what?

We use them in the back-yard sandbox for the kids to play with..also take them to the beach.

we use them for our nightly Orville popcorn
The last time we were at WDW we had to buy a 2nd because we often both wanted to use the bucket at the same time
they are both from EpCot near Canada - maybe this yr I'll get a bucket from a different park

I just spent over and hour last night filling 20 popcorn buckets with "loot" for my son's 6th birthday party. (Yes, we are crazy - around 20 kids are coming for the 3rd year in a row. However, it IS an outside party!)

His party has always had a Mickey theme, but I had never thought of the popcorn buckets until a few weeks ago when my husband asked the same question - he pointed out we had nearly 30 of them in our garage and wasn't that a little excessive :) It hit me that they would work great for the little toys and candy that each kid takes home from the party. (I don't know if this is the same everywhere, but around here every kid gets a "loot bag" as they leave a birthday party.)

We only have a couple, but they are great for storing all the little toys that seem to be breeding in my children's rooms.

My daughter's is full of Polly Pockets and my sons is full of rubber lizards, at the moment.

pdarrah - that is a great idea.

I have lots as well - I keep one each of a "new" style and they are lined on the back of a shelf that holds MANY MANY Disney photos in our travel room.

I have filled others with a movie (or movie theatre certs) movie candy, popcorn packet for family gifts at Christmas time.

We use them for popcorn whenever a new Disney DVD is released or to watch our WDW recordings (Food Rocks is our current fave).

Paul.

I read about someone who took one and poked a hole in the cover to save change in it. It sounded like such a great way to use it as a WDW Piggy Bank, and sure was alot cheaper than buying one!

Good idea! Never thought of that - you think it would have been so obvious! :rotfl: I have one with change in it, one for clothespins, one has cookie cutters in it. I guess I'll use some of the empties for POPCORN!

We use our's as our "Disney Fund". We put all our extra change in there to see how much we can save before our trip in July.

Ours hold ALL of our spare change for spending money during our next trip to see Mickey. DS has one in his room, I have one in my room, and we have one in the basement and one in the kitchen. We plan to get more during this trip so we can actually use them for POPCORN at home!

If you want to get rid of them, donate them to a pre-school or kindergarten teacher. I know as a K teacher I could use them for all kinds of storage and games in my classroom!

The Disney fund idea is awesome, plus, living in HUMID-HOT S. Florida, I fill mine full of ice water and keep it outside with me while I do yard work. The cover is great for keeping bugs out and I don't have to run in as often to get a nice cool glass of water.

We use them for snacks in the car. I have 5 kids, and they each have their own. We spend a lot of time at kids sports stuff or dance, etc., and this way they have a little 'stash' of goodies to keep them happy! And oh, what great memories they bring back!!!!

I seem to recall that they also make a handy makeshift outhouse!

sorry I couldn't resist! :rotfl2:

I use them at my parties for chips, pretzels ect.. They always start up a good conversation - Walt Disney World - what else!!! :goodvibes :jumping1:

Well, you don't want to know what we used one of our popcorn buckets for on the drive home in Feb..... Let's just say my 5 yr old son was the last of us to get the stomach bug we all had...and he made good use of that bucket on the way home! Needless to say, we didn't save that one. LOL :crazy2:

But the others we use for toys. The birthday party idea is a great one!! :)
