What to do while I wait for my trip?

I'm about to go crazy! I feel like I've been planning this darn trip forever (probably about 2 months really), and I've STILL got a year to wait! One year from today, we will be landing at MCO. What do I do until then to pass the time? We are going to the beach at the end of May for a week, but what about the rest?

I wanna go NOW!!! Unfortunately, we can't afford two trips close together, and I asked DH about moving our trip to the fall instead of May, but he said no. It's way too far to go for a quick fix (about a 16-hour drive, with two little kids, no thanks), so that's out.

Right now, I'm just reading sections of my UG, visiting the boards, chcecking allearsnet every couple of days, and going over the notes I've made for our trip, but what else?

Maybe summer will be busy, then in Sept or so I'll make our reservations, then I can wait until Feb or so to make PSs....

Thanks for letting me rant, I know you guys understand!

Watch your planning dvd, and Disney movies... I watch our video from our last trip too.

Believe me, we know exactly how you feel. What I do is visit these boards and other planning sites. I watch the planning video, and old videos of past trips. I look at the pictures from previous visits. I plan, and plan. I start packing and adding to my toiletry bag. I visit the dollar store and buy things to entertain DD for the long drive down. I go to the Disney store to get a Disney fix. I read the guide books. Plan an itinerary. Print out activity pages for my DD, and other stuf for the car ride. I make CD's with Disney music for the car ride. Another thing that Ilike to do is help plan other people's trips to Disney. All DH's friends at work use me for info for their trips. I love it!!
The time eventually goes by, then the trip comes and goes and then time to plan another!! Try to enjoy the wait, the anticipation is half the fun!!

You can also watch Disney themed movies, especially fun to do wiht the kids.

I agree with watching the movies. If you go back to the classics, you'll find that you pick up so many references to the characters, art, and places in Disney films at WDW. Maybe a little Disney treat would help? Like a plush, or a cd?

Get one of those Wilton cake pans and bake a Mickey cake!
Another thing you can do is get a memory book and start looking for decorative papers, stickers...anything you will need to make a nice memory book when you get back.
Go to a DIS Meet close to you!
Another thing you can do is move your date up!

Steph, I know how you feel. Our family trip is in a year also - as a matter of fact, our family will be touching down at MCO a year from Thursday!

Although I guess it isn't exactly the same since I'm going there on a girls trip with my mom and sister in October

But you've got me for support anyway!!

Make one of those chains for each day you have left! Take construction paper, cut it into strips, write the number of days left and something Disney (a favorite ride, movie, character, etc) and make the chain, taking off one a day until the big day! Then you can spend each day celebrating something Disney until your trip.

dont kid yourself any longer! That other stuff won't do the trick. You need to pull a "Clark Griswold" and get the family car ready for that 16 hour trip. Ive done it plenty of times. Get a portable dvd player for the kids and just do it!!! Its your only solution.....

Oh, how I wish I could xmatt! Our beach vacation at the end of this month is up in the air now, DH company is having some problems and we may have to cancel.....

Ugh, I want OUT of this town!
