What To Do While Dh Is At Driving Course??

DH WILL BE DOING THE RP COURSE ONE MORNING OF OUR TRIP. WE WILL HAVE OUR OWN CAR, ANY SUGGESTIONS OF THINGS I COULD DO WITH THE KIDS AGES 1 AND 6? WE WILL BE STAYING AT WL.

If you have tickets for that day, maybe you and your kids could go to MK for the sole purpose of exploring Tom Sawyer Island. I remember going there when I was 6 and thought it was really cool.

You could hang out in DTD. Shop in the stores, toy store, play at the Lego Store, Goofy's Candy Shop is the best, run through the water shooter things (whatever they're called????)

Maybe you could rent bikes. I was looking at the WDW site and saw that they are available at WL. You could get a 4-seater so you and your kids would be all together. Additionally, you could rent a paddle boat. They are also available at WL. Either way, you would probably want to call before hand to reserve if necessary.

You should go to Downtown Disney. You can shop for awhile and let your kids play in the fountains. Buses to DtD are usually pretty consistant.

You really should go to the track to watch!

I assume he is doing the actual driving experience (not just the ride-a-long) since you are looking for things to do & that requires more time.

Sleep in while he goes over & gets registered & trained (he can make other arrangements to get there & then you can drive over). Then, take the kids & enjoy the "show." They will drive the family around the track in a van (pretty quickly I might add) & show you what it is like.

They really do it up & I am sure your husband would be grateful to have a cheering section for him when he's up. They make a pretty big deal of it at the WDW track.

My kids were just 3 & 1 when my DH did the driving experience & they enjoyed watching their dad drive the fast car. They still remember it now, 3 years later.

You can also video & take photos to document his achievement.

Also, he will get done early enough that you can enjoy the rest of the day with family plans -- whether that is Downtown Disney or swimming or whatever.

When my DH did that, several years ago, I met up at MGM with my parents and brother for lunch at 50's Prime Time Cafe. Too fun!

However, did ya ever think about just maxin' and relaxin' at WL? That pool is so gorgeous and fun! Just take a day and enjoy your resort.

You could spend the morning checking out the nature trails and petting zoo next door at fort wilderness. Or, take the boat to the contemporary and tour the monorail resorts. Renting boats at the marina sounds like fun too.

OK, MY MIND IS MADE UP! DON'T KNOW WHY I DIDN'T THINK OF IT MYSELF! THE BOYS AND I WILL SLEEP IN AND THEN DRIVE OVER TO THE TRACK! WE WANTED TO SEE HIM DRIVE THE TRACK, BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO WAIT AROUND UNTIL IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED.

AND THEY EVEN WILL DRIVE US IN THE VAN? MY BOYS ARE GOING TO LOVE THAT!!

The Polynesian is really close to the track - you could go for an early character breakfast at Ohana's w/ Lilo and Stitch. They have really good Mickey waffles

Glad you're going to make it over. I am sure you will enjoy it.

You might want to give them a call ahead of time & ask what would be a good time to show up so you make it in time to get the ride around the track don't miss your husband's drive.

One other thing...make certain you schedule the experience earlier in your trip rather than later in case of rain. They don't have a means to dry the track so if it is wet, they will cancel. My husband literally got a raincheck (good for 1 year) from the first time he was supposed to do it & it was too late in our stay to make it up. Luckily, we already planned to go back & he was able to do it then. That time, I scheduled it for one of our first days..just in case.
